2008 is shaping up to be exactly like this year - another player drain with no-one there to fill in the holes.

Man I hope we can garner some success with Henry at the helm. We MUST be a contender, playing attractive football, to try and avert this potential disaster in '08. Link this with the end of our major sponsorship the year after - it could spell T R O U B L E if our team is experiencing the same 'success' rate as today.

Many of these players will be have their contracts extended by the time their existing one ends, some will call it quits, and others (Adrian, why do you think I'm talking about you???) we'll gladly let go.

A few of these guys don't look like getting a look in 1st grade on current form, others will struggle to get a spot when injured players return. Buttriss, Cross, Kahler, Milne, Purtell and Raston are all guys that I'd not be worrying about at the moment, although I'm positive at least 3 of them will prove me wrong.

Does anyone know the position with Mark Herbert? I know he started in Jersey Flegg, but he's been appearing regularly in the Premiers.

id imagine next year he will be the PL half with mc crone staying up in flegg

at least two, if not all 3 of carney, dobson and zillman will feature in FG, leaving a vacant half spot, Herbert will fill in nicely

Im really not convinced by dobson, Herbert may well be pushing him in the race for possibly the thrid FG spot.

I dont want us to rush either into FG as i think we wil only be able to re-sign one next year. whoever gets to FG first will be the most likely to re-sign and i would hate for us to pick the wrong one by virtue of rushing them into FG. I would be happy to see Carney/Withers (if Zilly is fullback) or Craney/Zillman in the halves instead, at least for the first half of the season so we can make sure we keep the right guy (unless one of them becomes a hooker then things become different).

Plus i dont really think either are quite ready for FG (onlyseen one Dobson ESL game so not basing his assessment on much)....

Stuat I'm not sure how much you've seen of Herbert but there is no way he's ready for first grade. Give him say 3-4 years from what I have seen.

**** look how many players are off at the end of '08. Did Logan sign for 3 years? Isn't he 31 or something?

Slip of the key.... I'm pretty sure he signed for two years. Have fixed.

No news is good news, he can go as soon as the PL season is done. Last report he was heading for 2nd div french team and he would fit in well on their bench. I know I'm being harsh but he doesn't have the heart or lateral agility to play NRL, never has never will, I've seen/heard enough about him since he was a gun u/14 with western suburbs in the newcastle comp. Spoken to a couple of his rep coaches who all said the same thing "give him the ball and he can score a try from nothing, run an angle or step at him and he doesn't have a hope".
