Depends on how many times he's been right before. He may only be 66.67% right now.

Conversely he could be now correct 76% of the time.

Of note, haven't they already done away with that rule or does this still count against it as the contract was signed under the old rules? Not that it makes much different either way, just out of interest.

I found this weeks team strange. We put on 44 points, with every outside back scoring a try, and not one of them made the team of the week.

When we signed Austin it was a given.. the guy owned number 6. There was absolute no doubt abojt it. Even though he hasnt played more than 1 game in a row in that position.

But in all honesty....If williams keeps improving (which is very likely gping to be the case) .. we may have invested solid coin in someone that will just create a redundancy in our squad.

Time will tell.

No one is doubting that Williams is a talented player, and I truly hope he continues his form for the rest of the year, not just for our sake but his as well.

But there is absolutely no doubt that Sezer is a far more polished and complete halfback at this stage of his career, and he has been bought here to be our starting halfback next year.

Nothing short of Sammy morphing into JT or Cronk overnight won't stop the fact that Sezer is the guy next year to lead us to the promised land.

Just some stats about the two players at the half way point in the season:

Tries

Williams 1 - From 7 games
Sezer 3 - From 12 games

Try Assists

Williams 9 - 1.3 Average (2nd highest average in the league, Thurston first with 1.4 average)
Sezer 7 - 0.6 Average

Average Kick Metres

Williams - 383.4 per game (4th in the league)
Sezer - 374.8 per game (5th in the league)

40/20s

Williams 1
Sezer 0

Line Breaks

Williams 1 - 0.1 Average
Sezer 3 - 0.3 Average

Line Break Assists

Williams 6 - 0.9 Average
Sezer 9 - 0.8 Average

Tackle Success

Williams 83% - 90/108
Sezer 79% - 159/201

Errors

Williams 3
Sezer 14

Whilst I rate both of them, I think Williams is a better fit for the team.
Also there are some further stats that I would like to see but just don't have them.

Just checked what I have for Sammy, and they differ slightly. I use NRL stats live.

Did Williams have 4 or 5 TA's against the Knights?
I believe we might call that a statistical outlier and you take that out and his TA assists stats look pretty ordinary.

lol pretty much sums up the argument for Sezer walking straight into the starting side.

This coming off season should be a clean slate for both Williams and Sezer - who ever impresses Sticky at training and in the preseason games should start the season wearing #7.

Williams is showing at the moment that not only can he do well in the team, he's also showing the team can do well with him on the paddock. Sezer doesn't have that same luxury so am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But in no way am I seeing him as the definite starter. If he earns it in the off-season, then fine, but if Sammy does better in the off season, then I expect Sammy to start.

You know who i reckon does see Sezer as a definite starter?
The coach who head hunted him for this squad and is paying half a million a year. He'll say other wise because that's just how this always works, but hear me now and believe me later, Sezer is going to be our halfback next year if healthy.

Williams is no where near as weak as people are making him out to be, and Sezer is no where near as good. Those stats paint a pretty good picture.

One thing about Sezer is that he runs the balls a lot (over 10 carries per game) - he'll be having to get used to doing much less of with Austin and Wighton in the team. Interested to see how his game will adapt and fit in.
