Show me the money: players demand bigger piece of NRL's $1 billion pie
The player's union is pushing for an increase in the salary cap - and is likely to get it - after the NRL trumpeted a $50 million surplus for the financial year.
The current collective bargaining agreement struck between the governing body and the Rugby League Players' Association doesn't expire until the end of the 2017 season. Under the CBA, the salary cap will rise from its current position of $6.55 million to $6.8 million for next season and then $7 million for the following.
