The site is now open, you should be able to sign in with your log in email address and password from last yr.

https://thebench.com.au/home

We will be doing the Quick Draft this year, it is back.

I'd advise we all sort out a spreadsheet at some stage in the coming weeks to use during the draft.

We can draft at any time, I think we should wait until mid Feb at least and do the draft on a weekend, it will only take an hour to draft our 25 man squad.

I will sort out the comp later today or tonight and pm everyone the password so you can join.

I'm doing 4 comps this yr so I don't have the time to screw around for a month doing the 24 hr draft here.

You guys can do it if you want but I'll need to be replaced and someone else take over here.

Doing a pick every 2 minutes is pretty good, you have enough time, if you happen to miss a pick any time you just grab whatever you missed from free agency as soon as the draft finishes.

Or you could swap with anyone from div 2 who wouldnt mind doing the quick draft.

We will have to sort it out before I start sending out invites.

Id prefer the 24 hour draft as you get a decent time for a pick. I found with the hour draft anyone who loses wifi or it drops out, can't make it, get completely screwed and its season over before it begins.

The comp is now set up - We are doing the Quick Draft.

The scoring and settings are now in the first post of the thread.

I have sent out some PM invites to join the comp.

I know the old site had issues for a while, 2013 was almost breaking point for most and the quick draft was ordinary, but any thoughts of that site should of been forgotten after the success of last year, the guys have done some quick draft testing and reports are it worked well.

Nickman and lucy - I hope you guys still join up, it seriously isn't a bad draft to do when it works well.

Ok I have now sent everyone the Token to join the comp, post your team name up in here once you join.

I'm think we draft mid Feb, Sunday the 15th seems like a good day or the following Sunday 21st :) 1 pm Qld time. If everyone is available that is. We will want everyone confirmed a week before.

It gives everyone time to get ready, do a spreadsheet of players in each position to look at while we draft.

I did a quick draft test, it worked very well.

The two minute clock worked perfect each round and players selected without an issue.

When I started the draft we had 7 minutes until the draft got under way.

You draft in the Draft Manger page, it has the clock timer on the right side, the clock only starts ticking down to zero once it hits 1 minute / 60 seconds. When it hits zero it says pick now, and off you go and draft a player. Repeat that for 25 rounds.

You can go the Players Page to draft your players, in that page if you go to position like halfback, if a player you want isn't their they are already drafted, if you go to an nrl club instead like Raiders, it will show who has drafted which player.

After you select a player just go back to the Draft Managers page for wait for the clock and next selection. If you miss a round don't worry, you can pick those players straight after the draft finishes.

If you go to the Home Page during the draft you will see the draft log of all players drafted by each team.

We can draft at any time once all 10 teams have joined, if you don't want to join let me know so a player from Div 2 can come up.

Do we have to do a Sunday?

I have kids, so Sundays I am very rarely ever home let alone online.

Only difference between the default scoring and our scoring, our try assists remain at 4 pts, default is 2.

I put line breaks, line break assists and 40/20 to the default scoring 1 pt each, instead of 2 which is what have been using. All comps have Workhorse points for forwards at 4 pts, Double Workhorse is automatic scoring in all comps 8 pts.

Our bench scoring has changed from last year, bench 1 is now for an outside back, bench 2, 3, 4 are now for three forwards to score a WH. If you put backs in bench 2, 3, 4 they could potentially get a WH if they get the defensive numbers, if you put a forward in bench 1they won't get a WH.

Captains Double Points has returned, the Rolling Lockout is back as well.

Waiver Wire has been added, nice addition for free agency. Players that are now dropped will be on waivers for 24 hrs, giving everyone a chance to bid and pick up that player, the lowest ranked team at the time, say 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th ect... who bids for that player will get him. If a player doesn't get claimed after 24 hrs on waivers he goes to normal free agency and can be drafted by anyone at any time.

The guide has more info about waiver wire.

The scoring and settings are posted up at the top of the thread.

We do we have double points for try assists?? Does that just unbalance the whole system??

Sorry to be a pain, I've just never understood why you'd tamper with the scoring

We have always used 4 for a try assists, the scoring just stayed the same since the first year, we did a breakaway comp that Lurch set up.

I think 4 gives good balance for your playmaker / spine of your team. We use 2 for a TA in the legends of league and it seems to under value your halves and hooker, it might be just me, but at the end of the day it is the same for everyone.

It's all good Nick you're not a pain :)

Yeah sounds good. Hopefully everyone joins up in the next week or so, we don't set a specific time and day now.

I just have to hit the start draft button and we have between 5 and 10 minutes and the draft starts.

No worries.

If we get everyone join in the next week or so we could do a practice quick draft before the real thing, so everyone gets to see how it works.

Might be a good idea to do a practice run the same night we do the real draft, just need 2 hrs free time one night.
