2014 Commonwealth Games

Post by greeneyed »

Come on Emma Jackson! She's just dropping back to fifth in the triathlon... she looks gone. She was right up there for much of the race.

Bad luck in the women's triathlon for Emma Jackson. Ended in fifth. Stimson (England) looks like a brick with eyes! England (Gold), Canada (Silver), England (Bronze).

It's funny how Channel 10 productions look like they're shot in a studio in Wagga Wagga in 1970.

They are doing a far better job than Nein do with sports coverage. :)

Also I thought it was best I comment in here so you're not talking to yourself.

Actually both the Glasgow and Sochi sets look like they were shot with the media centre's loading dock in the background..

That lounge suite looks like it was made in 1967 and recovered in remnants.

Where does Channel 10 get their "sporting personalities"? I mean, who IS the woman talking to Thorpie? And who IS the bloke talking to Leisel Jones?

Melanie McLoughlin is fantastic.

Ten poached her from FoxSports and she has been great.

I watched the girls swim the WR time this morning. Just wonderful to see the last swimmer beat the line to the wall. There have been plenty knocking the Commonwealth Games but it is not a bad lead in to the Olympics in two years time and it provides a competition in which to set a World Record. Plenty of other good performances as well with the Aussie boys beating the poms at the velodrome. Always good to beat the Poms at anything. I think they have a World Champion at Photo Bombing, we can't match though.

Got to feel for Christian Sprenger, looks like he's injured and he's shot. Looks like that's why he was so disappointed last night.

I prefer the boxing,It is so much better than pro boxing. You know who is in charge and have a good idea of who is winning as the scoreboard is on the TV. I also enjoy the road cycling.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

The marathon always seems to be exceptional in the commonwealth games. Ever since deek did what he did back in the 80s.

Are you getting Sunday morning's fight?

As much as it pains me to say it, I've never felt less confident about a Geale fight. I hope I'm wrong, obviously.

Hockey would have go down as the most boring spectator sport on the planet. I'm sure it is an exciting game to play, however, the whistle just goes off far to often for an enjoyable game to watch. Not to take away from the guys an gals achievements, it's just no one cares ( except for an Olympic gold medal match - come on, be honest!)

If I had to make a table of most interesting spectator sports I'm sorry to say how women's netball pans out. This is my ladder:

NRL (Raiders)
English premier league soccer (southamton)
A league football
English super league rugby league
Super Union in Australia
Afl (Geelong)
NFL
Other soccer leagues in Europe
NBA
NBL
Australian swim team
Australian womens basketball team
australian women netball team
Australian women's hockey team
Australian men's hockey team
