Some of the things people are saying that they like about The GH:

Accessibility of Raiders content. Insightful posts from Seiffert82, DJ, Ruben, Beejay and a few others.

Great place to read Raiders stuff, love it!

I like columns both pre and post match. Updates on what is happening in the club and the discussions.

It keeps me updated on everything Raiders related.

I particularly like the discussion on game day....mostly after a good win.

Mostly the twitter discussions, I have a feed running at work and it's easier than the forum.

I like the things people write just for The Greenhouse.

It's the best source for Raiders news and rugby league news in general.

I just love that's it's all things Raiders. I only have Twitter and I often go to The GH website in case I've missed something.

All the characters and green eyed bias.

I like discussing the football with some other posters.

The photo competitions. However each one should be based on likes not judges.

The humour and banter between some of the posters is great. There are some real characters on there.

Keeps you up to date with Raiders information.

I love the passion everyone involved has for this great club, led from the top in greeneyed.

Most up-to-date raiders news all in one place. Generally friendly and funny people. Well organized and moderated.

If there is any news on the Raiders you can guarantee it will be on The GH.

Updates and team announcements are always handy and what is not to love about competitions?

As a Sydneysider, it's the best place to keep up to date with Raiders news.

Way better than all other rugby league forums all round. Run pretty professionally.

The old "i never post on the gh but im sick of seeing all the same posters with their in jokes"
Or
"Theres too many posts that arent 100% raiders related. I only want to see raiders specific info, not discussion about it. Definitely dont want to laugh. Ps, i dont post or contribute in any way"

Some of the things people are saying they like least about The Greenhouse, or things they could do without:

I could do without all the infighting on thegh.com.au.

When people have multiple accounts.

Some people can get a bit annoying and get too hard on other posters.

This year in particular there has been significantly more off topic posts and as a result I rarely read through threads anymore, just focusing on news articles. Also there are way too many individually run segments in the pre game threads so that anything worthwhile is drowned out.

All the people picking on others.

I was going to say the crazies on the forum but it's mostly kept in check and diversity should be encouraged.

I get annoyed with those who troll on our web site....surely they can follow their own team!

I think the GH needs an impartial voice on Facebook. Something that doesn't yell out conspiracy or whinge whenever we lose.

I enjoy it all.

Actually finding the discussions points! The forum page is very difficult to navigate, to the point I only usually comment on conversations already started!

The clique. Certain posters derail thread after thread with inside jokes. Moderation is over the top in the sense of restricted speech for example, the Vaughan 'speculation' denied in the 'speculation' thread?! Profanity isn't as big an issue as it is made out to be either, most forums I'd argue are unrestricted in that sense. I think common sense must prevail. It's a forum, it's going to be occasionally informal, politically incorrect and subjective. I think the GH can do both the news outlet aspect and allow freedom of speech to the extent that it's on the topic at hand a bit better.

There are a lot of negative posters on the site itself. Yoo much sky is falling, not enough positive enthusiasm.

Nothing.

Only a minor thing, but I've only recently joined Instagram and am unsure if my #WearGreem and #FromAllAngles pictures are being seen by you guys? They aren't always amazing, but I know you like to share a lot of them on your account. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly?

Searching your own posts takes you to a list of topics instead of a list of your posts, which pretty much makes the link useless. Creating your own advanced search with you as the author works way better.

Your forum seems dominated with cliques, as a new user I felt on the outside.

The trolling. I used to be a frequent poster on the GH forum, but after feeling constantly trolled and insulted, one time in regards to a personal health issue, I turned away.

The absence of some posters recently.

My only suggestion would be to consider a news feed thread for each round. Post just the stories in there, and have the discussion as a separate thread.

That way people can flick through and just get news

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that this forum is fantastically run, really. I'm part of other forums for a wide variety of matters + occasionally browse through rival ones, and I can say that this is probably the best of the lot. I do find that the level of moderation on here is strong (though fairly consistent), but I say that in a good sense as it then allows a greater focus on proper football talk and a greater depth to discussion. The level of discourse on here generally is amongst the highest that I've seen, certainly with regard to sports forums. That is a credit to everyone involved with this place.

As an "insider" looking out, the forum could be seen as a little daunting for new members given perhaps the appearance that the place is cliquey and has "in" crowds. Maybe more stuff can be done to encourage greater participation from newbies and create more warmth, so that they don't feel too much on the outer. That's just my perspective, not sure if that's exactly what plays out. I'm possibly guilty in this area as well.

Another suggestion would be to create a specific post match thread, so when the match is concluded, post match opens and all discussion carries over to there. I find that in-match and post game gets muddled, and you have to unnecessarily trawl through lots of posts to read up on the verdict of the game.

Finally, can specific player threads on their performance for a season be created? That way we're not having multiple threads being opened on the one player and the discussion on him fragmenting.

All in all I believe it's working quite well, so thank you.

What people are saying about how The Greenhouse can improve... or what The Greenhouse should do differently.

It's pretty good already!

Voting on #FromAllAngles and #WearGreen done by public vote for all.

I think you can be a little bit more lenient in what is allowed in the football forums. I'm not saying it should go back to how it was halfway through the year, just to how it was before then. I do think that since then you have been moving more things from the football forums to the Lime Lounge.

Nothing or nil (nine times)

You've got it spot on GH.

Further separation of the individual weekly segments and the pre match threads.

Nothing, it's pretty good.

Posting some links to active or recently updated forum topics on twitter - though this gets done for actual articles - but if the discussion has picked up a notification could bring more in.

I love my Raiders... and simply "eat up" all the information I can get on The Greenhouse.

The GH is great, it just needs a different social media voice to take it to the next level.

Make navigation easier. Have a link to the weekly podcast.

1. Police 'the clique' more heavily. 2. 'Common sense' approach to moderating. 3. Entice new forum posters via social media, encouraging them to have their say and contribute to Raiders discussion. Brings in more diversity and insight to the forum rather than having the GH social platforms merely as a news source. Will expand the site.

I'd like to see the humour return to the match preview thread. It seemed like towards the end of the season, everything kept getting moved around. I liked the humour mixed in.

Nothing, doing a great job.

The site has improved a lot recently with the moderators cracking down on the off topic arguments which is fantastic... just keep on doing that and all is fine.

Might not be possible but if the game day threads were updated immediately (like a chat window) instead of having to reload the page to get new comments it would be more intense. I realise it might raise the cost a bit to do it to all threads, but if that one thread could have a "live" mode that is turned off after the game I think it would add some more atmosphere to the place.

Overall you do a really impressive job, keep up the good work.

Happy as it is.

Just want to say thanks, The Greenhouse adds another dimension to being a Raiders fan. Keep up the good work.

Not really, you guys are fantastic!

Keep up the good work!

Doing a great job.

More help for the moderation.

Nothing too much, it's such a great site. The Raiders should pay you guys.

You're doing a great job.

Improve the match day information for out of towners.

Maybe having a weekly review show that highlights the important issues of the week.

Rid the clowns from the forum!

Three strike rule for problem posters. updated interface.

Raiders podcast.

More things people are saying they like least about The Greenhouse, or things they could do without:

Sometimes the off-topic discussions on the forum can be a bit annoying but the moderators usually do a good job.

I don't find the supporter photos on Instagram interesting, but I do like to see the unique moments from the game such as the Viking Clap and fan-made costumes. Sadly, sometimes I almost want to unfollow the Instagram page because of the supporters unnecessary photos, even though it offers you guys engagement towards your followers.

Negative comments! If I wanted negative comments would read the Daily Telegraph.

No all good.

The "cool" group taking over threads.

Too much trolling by some posters. They say the same thing in every single thread and think it's amusing. It's not.

How people are cruel.

Like it all.

Sometimes feeds are hard to find if there is a few in a short space of time.

Some of the regulars thinking they're above everyone else.

Nothing.

The bullying. The inside jokes and stupid acronyms. People who then complain my opinions are then irrelevant because I don't enjoy their banter.

Idiots constantly going off topic and dragging discussion down. Keeps me away sometimes.

The in-jokes, pettiness, personal attacks and snide digs.

Some of the things people are saying that they like about The GH:

I love The Greenhouse forum. Read it everyday during the season (a few times a day if something big is happening). I've never posted, but feel like I've got to know other fans through reading their opinions. So nice to share the ups and downs with people who care about the Raiders like me.

I really enjoy new ideas of how the Canberra Raiders should line-up 1-17 and game strategies etc. And also how I can easily find recent Canberra Raiders news articles from different outlets in the one place.

Richmond Club Hotel!

Love the fact you guys are on the ball and tell the fans straight away.

In depth analysis and discussions.

The great discussion of the footy.

The way all the fans come together.

Great for information.

Allowing fans to interact together with insider knowledge.

The banter and the speculation threads.

Raiders information in general.

The relevant articles posted on Facebook.

The open communication.

The social togetherness and opinions of other Raiders fans.

The Raiders updates, quite often saw them before any others!

Everything in one place. Enjoy discussing the Raiders with other Raiders fans.

Keeps me updated.

Everything is covered, no news is missed!

Intelligent football discussions and debates but not ones that turn into petty squabbles.

Love the podcast done by Mike and Mike (i think it is laugh out loud stuff!)

I enjoyed the match preview thread when everyone was so positive and coming out with wacky contributions.

Speculation thread.

Laughing at all the "haters" after a loss!

Article links to news stories.

Further separation?! They're in their own thread in a separate forum. What, do they want it on North Korea's intranet so that there's no chance they could accidentally click on the thread?

Sounds like the green light, ok, just following orders here guys and giving the people what they want:

Bad experiences more likely to be shared than good ones

Overall, 95% of respondents who have had a bad experience said they told someone about it, compared to 87% who shared a good experience.

Respondents who suffered a bad interaction were 50% more likely to share it on social media than those who had good experiences (45% vs. 30%) and 52% more likely to share it on an online...

Archer, except in the case of our survey, everyone's been asked to share both the things they like and don't like. And required to respond to both questions.

There's lots of positives as well as some negatives in the feedback. We are being quite transparent and fullsome in sharing the responses. The Admin will respond to all the results and points made once the survey closes.

Benefits of online discussion forums

Highlights

• Online discussion forums have benefits at individual and society level.

• They are positively linked to well-being for stigmatised group members.

• Online discussion forum use is linked to offline civic engagement in related areas.

• Identification with other forum users mediates the above relationships.

• Online discussion forums are of greater applied importance than has been realized.

In offline settings, researchers have demonstrated that those who communicate more and have close supportive relationships are less stressed, happier and psychologically healthier whereas those who have fewer close relationships, social resources and support tend to feel more lonely, be more depressed and psychologically less well.

But some have argued for an “internet paradox”: the idea that more interaction online translates into reduced well-being because it disrupts interaction offline. If time spent interacting online comes at the expense of vital everyday face-to-face interaction with family and friends, there could be negative implications for users’ psychological wellbeing downstream.

Interesting stuff.

PS: I love the offseason.

It's true, however research shows people are more likely to complain and remain silent rather than praise. If you apply this to the survey it means people are more likely to spend time thinking about what they don't like and responding to that portion than they are doing the same for what they do like. If you check some of the responses you'll see that there is complaining in the responses about what people do like.

For the record, I'm not saying any of these things are wrong, all legitimate things to dislike as far as I'm concerned. Its just an interesting topic and is about the only thing I could find which would have news articles but be considered on topic. Not having a crack at the GH or the survey, just a bit of off-season bantz mixed with something we can legitimately discuss.

I have absolutely no doubt that all 3 negative feedbacks about 'the clique' are every single mention of them in the survey and GE had to add them in to try to defend his actions. I also have absolutely no doubt that all 3 of those complaints came from afafffahaha manbush and dubs. I dont care but I just think its petty still complaining about it and posting it up to justify someones actions this year
