I just lost interest in the sport itself. I found myself getting increasingly frustrated at how the game was being run. At the same time, I was feeling increasingly alienated from the game's culture (see Pearce, Dugan, Ferguson etc). I began to feel truly ridiculous for idolising these boofheads.

Good luck to the Raiders and all the GH members (besides Nickman).
Things have turned the corner for the club since Rodman ditched us! I still love you Rod you handsome beast KW

Rod was a quality poster, who offered solid football insight and discussion.
Unfortunately, and perhaps predictably, his interest waned after years of constant failure, disappointing player behaviour and that sinking feeling that we are irrelevant to the NRL.

He became intently resentful that we had mediocre players like Josh McCrone on good coin trying to lead us to a premiership

I wish he would post more often, but I understand if he won't

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.
