Crazy Latin thread

Post by Sterlk »

Last night there was a thread that appeared in the "Welcome and how to join the Greenhouse" section, it was really lengthy and was written in something that resembles Greek or Latin, it was also started by a user that doesn't 'exist'... strange goings on. Obviously it's gone now.

What on Earth happened there?

Well... in the side bar where we usually have avatars, join dates etc... this guy had nothing, just a name at the top and then complete white.

I also searched for the name in the members list... nothing.

I know... I'm just curious as to what it was. One of the mods or admins would have to have an answer as for it to be gone, they'd have had to have removed it.

Appears to be a new form of spam, where the spammers are posting messages without going through the membership hurdle. Not much we can do at this stage but remove the spam messages.

between 12am? usually if something's "between", there's a 2nd variable involved.

or are you being Zen, like the sound of one hand clapping?

Incidentally, it was a cyrillic language.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic_alphabet
The Cyrillic alphabet (pronounced /sɨˈrɪlɪk/; also called azbuka, from the old name of the first two letters) is a family of alphabets, subsets of which are used by five Slavic national languages (Bulgarian, Russian, Belarusian, Serbian, Macedonian and Ukrainian) as well as non-Slavic (Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz and Tajik of the former Soviet Union, and Mongolian). It is also used by many other languages of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Siberia and other languages in the past.
Marko! What have you been up to???
