Injury concerns for Gun players

The Gungahlin Big Guns are expected to make a host of changes ahead of this weekends game with the Wang Warriors.

Despite naming Krisnan Inu in the centres, many believe he will be replaced at the 11th hour by coach Gafa who has yet to signal his intentions.

Origin backrower Neville Costigan is believed to on the out with he club after sustaining a long term injury and rumours have already floated about a mid week purchase to replace him.

This news follows the shock dumping of 5/8 Benji Marshall after he sustained another injury, having only played 4 minutes of the Guns first trial game.

Changes continue for wounded Guns

Following a dissapointing loss to the Warriors in Round 1, coach Gafa has made more changes to this weeks side.

The side which travelled away to the Warriors was under the pump from the outset as Sonny Bill Williams failed to kit up and left the side in the lurch. "We lost by 26, one key player didnt suit up and that couldve/shouldve been enough to get over the line" coach Gafa said, he went on to question the competition rules on interchanges "The rules of this competition dont allow you to take in an 18th man so we got jewd basically."

The change forced new recruit Te Marri in to the starting side who performed admirably on debut.

As expected Krisnan Inu was declared unfit and Nathan Merritt took his place. Greg Bird came on to the bench and was a handy interchange, scoring crucial points.

Fullback William Zillman went down for the season with another ACL injury and the side has been forced to drop the future rep star and replace him with Blues utilty Kurt Gidley.

This weeks side heads out on to the road again to face the Lions at Liverpool, coach gafa named his side (below) and had this to say "I dont know why Liverpool are in a Canberra based comp?"

1.MINICHIELLO
2.MERRITT
3.HODGES

Squad boosted by star returns

The Gungahlin Big Guns have named a strong line up to face the LBG Stingless Rays at Acton Pennisula. The Guns looking to improve on a 50/50 start to the season, this weekend completing a 3rd straight game away from home.

Guns win big with only 16

Gungahlin Big Guns coach Matt Gafa was extrememly impressed with his troops after being reduced to 16 players in the first minute of play "we had to reshuffle the backline and our backrow was fantastic again in cover". The Guns overcame the set back and blasted the Stingrays off the park in an embarrasing hiding. The true scale of the effort realised when the side was named team of the week.

The win jolts the Guns in to the top of the table race and has continued to shorten its premiership odds.

Coach Gafa was reluctant to change a winning formula and only replaced injured star Anthony Minichello. When quizzed on the loss of such a quality player coach Gafa had this to say "yeah its dissapointing for the individual but when it comes to star players, we arent short on them"

LOGAN NOT FOR SOUTHS

Recovered Guns forward Scott Logan has been added to an already extended bench by coach Gafa after Willie Mason failed to complete a training session this morning.

Coach Gafa was hesitant to take Logan away, removing his availability for QLD cup side Souths Logan, and much needed match fitness if he is not required in the Gh Premiership "yeah its a concern taking an extended bench, especially when you cant use the extra players without two days notice in this stupid system."

"Willie didnt pull up to good this morning and its too big a risk to leave without Scott to cover"

The guns were reduced to 16 before kickoff last week and only 15 in Round 1. A solid start to the season could be jeapordised by another blunder.

Softies Under The Gun

A desperate Spence outfit has been embarrased by Competition heavyweight Gungahlin. The Guns stretching their unbeaten streak and condeming the Softies to outright last.

In a game where nothing went to plan the Softies returned home to Spence only to find the LBG stingrays had come from nowhere to claim 2 points against the Turtles, meaning the Softies are now the only side winless in the Gh premiership.

Derby Time In City North

After a convincing win over the Softies the Gungahlin Big Guns are already in preperation for the northside derby.

Coach Gafa had this to say at this mornings training session "Cant wait for this week, the boys cant wait, everyones pumped"

The side to face the Knobs is expected later today.

Injury Woes Return at Gun HQ

After naming an unchanged side back to back last week, the only time this season in which that feat was possible. The Guns are again forced to change key players due to injury.

16 Guns Enough

The Gungahlin Marketplace Shield is safely in the hands of the Big Guns after the local derby was decided in convincing fashion on Saturday. The side was reduced to 16 after Alan Tongue was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The Big Guns are the competitions best attacking side and after an early loss to the Warriors have now gone 4 straight to sit second on the competition ladder.

7 Guns Enough! New Record!

Head coach Matt Gafa returned to Gungahlin on Saturday, having spent the week in origin camp, only to find assistant coach Carney had done nothing with the side.

A mere 7 players turned up to play Fyshwick who were struggling through rep selections. Fans prepared themselves for a thrashing, but nobody expected the epic struggle that developed.

In a display that can only be likened to two elderly men wrestling in a pit of glue, the two sides slowly racked up the lowest scoring game of the year.

With the match all but lost the Guns called on their Raiders players to lift, and lift they did. Dragging the pathetic excuse for a game out of Fyshwick's dead clutched hands and forever writing themselves in to the record books.

Coach Gafa had this to say "Wooooooooooooooot" and further "Leaving the side with Toddy is like handing him the keys to your ute after a few schooners... risky"
