Would you guys be up for doing a Mock Draft - practice run.

We have 3 new teams joining, give those guys a look at fun the Quick Draft is, I was thinking the Australia day long weekend if we can, if you can't its no drama, I'd like to get thecobwebs out before the LoL drafts start, after we finish I'll just reset the teams back to preseason.

Let me know what you guys think.

How'd the free for all go last year, was there one guy who was super quick and another super slow where the teams were obvious mismatches?

No I don't think anyone was super quick, I think marco might of had an issue but I 'm not sure, I had an issue at times being kicked into other team profiles, but it was only me, I didn't panic too much haha and kept going and was fine. That's why I thought doing a mock draft for you 3 new guys might help you out before the real thing.

You have 2 minutes between each round so no one has any real advantage unless your internet is being a prick, if you pick in say 30 seconds in a round you have that minute and a half to wait and think about your next pick, once you get 5 or 6 rounds in you seem to get in a grove and cruise, the late rounds you can struggle to find a player, but if you miss any rounds you just go to free agency as soon as round 25 is over and pick up the extra player or players.

At the start of round 1 sometimes you can feel like a deer in the headlights and freeze, I'm sure that has happened to a few us a different times, you are waiting and watching the clock go down, then it hits 0 and game on.

I know after we did this draft last year and a few days later when I did my Legends of League draft I was ready to go, the nervous energy was used in this draft, my LoL draft went very well and I was super fast.

It also helps to do up some sort of pre-draft list of players on a spreadsheet you can look over while drafting, you can't do a list on the site like the 24 hour draft.

Thanks for organising all the competitions Millsy! For those of you who don't know me I run NRLCEO on TheBench and have been doing so for a number of years now. The GH forums have always been a big supporter and as a fellow Raiders supporter I always like to see you guys enjoying yourselves.

We'd never really considered mock drafts before but we're going to run a few public mock drafts this year so that people can get the hang of it before your real competitions. It's a great idea as the draft is the best part!

The reason why you were the only one getting flicked to other teams profiles is because you are comp admin. No one else should experience that.

Good luck to one and all let me know if you have any future questions. I pop in here from time to time to read. Hardly post these days.

Too easy mate :) Things are going rather smooth so far, touch wood :D

That's a great idea doing a few public mock drafts, I'll be doing a few that's for sure, that will save me organizing times to do one here.

Oh. The headline reads differently to the content.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

NRLCEO 2016 : The GH Premiership : Draft - Monday 29th Feb.

Post by Millsy »

Draft Monday 29th Feb - 8-30pm EDST : 730pm in Qld.

Quick Draft will take about 50 mins once we start.

The draft will only go ahead if we have an even amount of teams, 8 or 10 - that 8 or 10 have to turn up on draft night or they will be deleted from the comp, the BS that happened last year isn't happening this year, having a team pike it at the last miinute.

Im not sure what is happening with Marco, he hasn't been in here yet to confirm if he is in so we may only have 9 atm, if thats the case we can bring Toviii up if he is ok with doing both comps or I will drop out to make 8 teams.

We will give Marco until Monday 8th Feb to confirm he's in.

It doesnt have to be the 29th, any time around the end of the month is fine, the weekend of 27th or 28th or Tuesday 30th as long as we are all free for an hour, no specific time needs to be set, all I need to do is hit start draft, it will give us about 5 minutes before we start.

Cool. It is really the only time left to draft before the season begins on the Thursday night.

The good thing is the trials are out of the way, Legends of League drafts done, also the teams for Rd 1 will likely be named that day.

I will pm everyone and lock it in :)
