GH Caption Contest?
Is Finite still alive somewhere? Will results of last year's comp be announced? Is the thread still in existence?
What about a 2009 comp? If Finite is too strapped to do it this year, do we need someone else to run it? *tentatively puts hand up*

I want my Jersey and plaudits!
In any case, if he doesn't come back to run the comp again I'll give it a shot.. Only downside is I can't enter the comp myself

Give it a whirl anyways mate, include yourself, if there is no prizes on the line, there is nothing to be wonRick James wrote:I want my Jersey and plaudits!

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
That's cool, I can wait for Finite inevitable return.
I might put in an entry of my own with the picture - possibly the most obvious one or something like that to get people thinking

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
Each week, a photo from the previous week's game will be put up, and it's your job to come up with the best caption for it, most likely something irreverent. If you read Ralph or FHM, it's something along the lines of their captions.travelling_ringo wrote:what does the competition involve exactly?

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
So what happens to the old caption contest threads (including this years?) Do they sink to the bottom of the forum somewhere or do they get deleted?
I seem to be too stupid to find it using the search function, either that or it is deleted I suppose.

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
We are working out what to do with it, so it is off in the moderators' forum for the time being. I seriously doubt The Caption Contest will be happening again, given this is the second time that it has come a cropper.gangrenous wrote:So what happens to the old caption contest threads (including this years?) Bit unlucky with it coming unstuck twice really...

It seems popular enough in that poll, we just need to find someone who will stick with it.

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
I'd like to give it another go this year if you guys will let me - could be in conjunction with another member in case of unforseen circumstances (like having no internet for the last half of last season and work banning access to this website) if people prefer. I still have all the prizes I mentioned last year and there's time to add a couple of really good ones for the winners. I have a vision of this contest besing a mainstay and member favourite on the site if we can have a few successfully run years in a row like the Fan's Choice Award has done.

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
I'd like to this comp back Rick, so yes please.
GT can be on the bench for you, or I will if he's no longer interested.

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
Excellent! Well GT post here if you want to be the back up and I'll PM you with plans, otherwise LG.. I mean KW (wait that just won't work!) can step in.
I think this year we might open it up to submissions from people who took funny photos at the game too, pehaps with a weekly prize for the best shot (with Getty Images there as back up)

Re: GH Caption Contest 2008?
I'm still happy to help out RJ.
Re: GH Caption Contest?
As long as the photos are submitted in another thread it could be good. No more of GE's posting of every freaking photo he deems fit. In fact, no more GE in the caption thread!Rick James wrote:I think this year we might open it up to submissions from people who took funny photos at the game too, pehaps with a weekly prize for the best shot (with Getty Images there as back up)

Re: GH Caption Contest?
GT maybe we can make it more of a partnership - we can both have a say in judging etc etc - last year I think a couple weren't happy with my decision, so that makes it a bit more independant.
Photo submissions would be PM'd to GT or myself only.
GE will be free to submit photos in the fashion above, or participate in the Competition
