2006 Golden Boogs announcement

Post by Nick »

Due to time constraints with my new job and many other things that are taking my time up such as F7's and actually getting to canberra games, aswell as a social life, it appears ill be unable to do the majority of the Golden Boogs stuff this year

I happen to think its a great annual event for the forumers, and this year in particular should throw up far more variety of candidates, and would hate to see it go down the ****

so im offering it up for tender
i am happy to help where i can to anyone willing to take it on

For those newbies unaware of what this is, visit this thread:
always good for a laugh :)

Yeah it truly is Rugby leagues night of nights, the glitz and glam, the stars of the GH on show.

It's also great when you can walk away with an award *kisses 2005 Newbie award statuette*

I wouldn't mind seeing a tribute to the departing coach, The Matt Elliott Medal presented to the funniest forum member or the member who has no idea on rugby league, either works fine

and 69 what about the GH Immortals??

indeed
i generally open a thread this time of year to take on suggestions for that year's awards, but first and foremost we need someone to take on organisation and presenting duties

R69 is like Steve Martin... at some stage... he just runs out of jokes to tell on the awards ceremony.... Time for someone else to step up.

I think Valiant is the man for the job.

Damn there have been some funny calls this year - but thankfully our season is gonna last a little way into September now, so this'll all have to wait! (Normally it's an off-season event to keep the punters interested).

I say keep all the current categories and we'll brainstorm some new ones :)

I'll tally up all the votes if you want? Also if i remember correctly were last years votes all posted on the GH? I'm in favour of them being pm'd through for the obvious reasons of individuality and all that.

People normally post 'candidates for nomination' but PM the host their actual votes.

Normally a whole lot of options get tossed up for each category then we have a top three that get taken to the polls.

Well i suppose i better give the public what it wants and that is the valiant_raider hosting the 2006 Golden Boogs awards :)

On another note, Schifty has got to be a cert to be the next GH Immortal

I wonder if I will be invited to the event this year. I had to hide in the toilet cubicle three days before last year to even get in.

By far the greatest socail night on the GH. We all get dressed up in our suits and dresses and party like it's 1994.

Nick has done a great job with it, but abolsutely no doubt Val will do a fantastic job with it - he has proven himself more than capable at a hosting role.

the golden boogs were terrible last year, basically just a thread where the clique members patted each other on the back.

nothing ive seen in this thread so far has shown me this year's will be any different.

Oh crap, I didn't realise I got a Boogs last year. Im backing someone accepted it on my behalf and has been using it to "woo the ladies" ever since. Punks!

(What's the McLinden award by the way? Am I meant to be offended or is it because of the hair?)

But McLinden always played when fit. Wouldn't it be better if the award was for a post whore with very sporadic brilliance??? Then again, you'd be winning every year 69

Honestly this constant logging in is annoying, I click on reply get redirected back to the main site then have to find my way back to where I wanted to reply again.

Well said... those ejits from the clique just give all the good awards to themselves and forget that there are other deserving Boogsters out there. For shame.

I keep telling the forum people the performance of the forum with the login/logout/back to the index is hopeless but they say they are not experiencing it at their end... it is still a major problem.

I'm gonna start a thread in the Raiders section so everyone can see it where I will ask people to list their probs with accessing the forum
