2014 Golden Boogs - Official Nominations - Voting

Post by greeneyed »

2014 Golden Boogs - Official Nominations - Voting now open

Image

So, it's that time of year again. Golden Boogs time. The members of The Greenhouse have been putting forward their nominations, and based on those tallies, we now have the official nominations for the Golden Boogs Awards, 2014.

The Thread of the Year and Regular Feature of the Year have been combined in 2014, and the nominations automatically include the top four threads on the Canberra Raiders board by views.

For those who are new to The Greenhouse, the Golden Boogs are the annual forum awards, nominated and voted on by you, the members of The Greenhouse. The awards are named after a certain former Raider, immortalised in the Golden Boogs trophy.

How to vote? We have established a voting poll... and you just have to click here. Nominees will appear in randomised order in the survey and are in random order in this thread.

You will only be able to vote once (and if we see evidence of anyone cheating the system in any way, the awards will be unfortunately cancelled, or at least, relevant nominees suspended, so please don't even try!).

These are the nominations:

They're all smoking cigars and sipping brandy with Harold Holt.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I was clearly nominated for Daley C and to be honest, I pretty much had it in the bag.

I demand answers on why I have been excluded from the list. Restitution shall be in the form of an automatic Daley C nomination for as long as the GH exists. My grand-kids will be able to vote for me when I'm cold in the ground.

I've done it for you Schifty: http://www.thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopic ... 28&t=28647

Plus, my research has revealed what the "C" stands for in the Daley C Poster of the Year award. In fact, in 2004, the Poster of the Year and the Daley C awards were separate awards... and the Daley C award was "for consistency". The awards in 2005 were merged. :woot:

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Lucy,
I would like to enquire about your 'Space for rent'.

Now that the Boogs voting is open, I would like to suggest 'Vote 1 - Fuifui Bradbrad for Underrated poster'

I would like this in the largest font possible, without looking over the top.

Sincerely,
Fui
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

I'm honoured to even be nominated for the Daley C. My post count is not enormous, and those posts of mine that aren't quoting the Simpsons or Futurama are usually one liner sarcastic comments. However, I'm fully expecting to beat Pigman's efforts from last year and somehow score a negative vote.

However, in the interests of not polling worse than the Queensland ALP post-Anna, please give your imaginary votes to me in every category! If I can't win it, at least I can make the tallying in Excel difficult! Vote Sqrt(-1) for reptar in '14!

BREAKING NEWS: 2014 Golden Boogs scandal!

Image

The 2014 Golden Boogs Awards have been thrown into chaos when it was discovered that one of the nominees for the prestigous Greenhouse forum gongs is a fake.

Just days before voting closes for The Greenhouse awards, The Greenhouse Academy has discovered that a nominee for the Newbie of the Year is not a new poster at all.

A suspiciously large late surge in voting for one nominee led the Academy to investigate the credentials of the nominee and it was discovered that a long established poster had created a double identity.

It is understood by The Greenhouse Times that the poster concerned has established many false identities on the forum, and the Academy is now considering its next course of action.

The head of The Greenhouse Academy, greeneyed, refused to make comments when confronted with the story. "No, no, no... no comment. If you blokes don't get out of the way, I'm really going to stack on a blue" he said, as he rushed past reporters into his luxurious office.

There will no doubt be more to come to this story soon...
