Outside of Jason Croker not getting a gig I think that's about spot on.
Would have won Boogs - 2016, 2017, 2018

No Jason Croker? A bit rough leaving out the most capped player in Raiders history, he was very good too.
John Lomax is there for some reason. Must have been a powerful 65 games. Shannon Boyd has played more games than him already.

Lomax was player of the year in our greatest ever team. No way I can leave him out.Walt Flanigan wrote:No Jason Croker? A bit rough leaving out the most capped player in Raiders history, he was very good too.

Fair call on Croker.

Re: 35 Year Canberra Raiders Dream Team
Almost cost us a Grand Final spot with a stupid tackle that got him sent off against Norths. We were just lucky that Larson copped a soft send off. Also lucky that Ozzie stepped up the following week.edwahu wrote:Lomax was player of the year in our greatest ever team. No way I can leave him out.Walt Flanigan wrote:No Jason Croker? Nothing soft about that Larson send off IMO.
Shocking tackle haha.
Good times. Better times.

Fair call. I was a mid teen in 94' and Lomax was a solid (nothing special) metre earner and a solid hitter (but a distance away from the Lance, Wiki, Sia zone). he played a very, very good year. But nothing on the year Jordy Raps just had. I'd have Boyd in my team.Walt Flanigan wrote:No Jason Croker? A bit rough leaving out the most capped player in Raiders history, he was very good too.

If Toots Snrs try scoring record as a back (look at the blokes in that category alone)- finisher, instincts, line breaker-, longevity, success, versatility, hard as nails defence, hands the equal of raved about Whitehead in attack don't get him a go on the bench then I'm crazy.

Re: 35 Year Canberra Raiders Dream Team
No Brett Mullins? Great year in 1994 and played well in 93 and 95. At least a reserve for tiring forwards
I think Rapana is better than Noa. Rapana runs it from our end to make the hard metres
Dean Lance for Ruben for mine.
Gary Coyne does not even get a spot in the top 25?
Another player I thought was unlucky to make the top 25 is Chris O'Sullivan. Extremely underrated but good player in my eyes. Pacy, good kicking game, can kick field goals (i.e. 1989 GF), and good organiser.

I agree on Rapana, or at least I expect he would make the team if we had of voted at the end of this year.Hong Kong Raider wrote:No Brett Mullins? Great year in 1994 and played well in 93 and 95. At least a reserve for tiring forwards

You've lost me with Lance for Ruben though. Different class of player.

Man, the naming of a few of these players hasn't aged well.
Shannon Boyd? Seriously? Who let that through?

Re: 35 Year Canberra Raiders Dream Team
Shannon Boyd and Jarrod Croker
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.
