Raiders club songs

Post by greeneyed »

We often get requests for the Raiders club songs... the original and current... so here they are:

Original club song "We are the Canberra Raiders"

Current club song "The Green Machine"

"We are the Canberra Raiders" FTW.

It should be re-done, more brass band, less banjo :cmon

Give it a vintage, AFL style feel, and that would be an absolute winner.

Time to give 'The Green Machine' a rest :)

We are the Canberra Raiders should only be played after the game after a win. As a Victory Song.

The Green Machine is good for the team to run out to.

No. 1, where have you been?

I would really love to see the original song be used for a victory song after a win!

Personally i love the banjos! but then again, every time i hear one i think of the dueling Banjos.

but i agree with Nick, play it at the games after a win.

Only downside, the sharks do the same. AND we dont want to be like the sharks.

I don't agree that "The Green Machine" song is ordinary, but I reckon it would be great to bring out the original club song for a win!

Don't underestimate the quality of the green machine song. I kow the lyrics may be a bit corny but the music is great for creating atmosphere when the boys run out. I know some of my friends who support other clubs like the song and my girlfriend who is indifferent to football but attended her first game at Canberra Stadium recently found herself tapping her feet to the beat.

For those who do not know the Green Machine theme was written by Les Gock - a jingle writer based in Sydney who had tasted success in the 70's with glam rock band Hush. He has penned many other jingles over the years....

I think we all should try and make it happen.

Let's start a concerted campaign.

We can start with the fan survey- as many people as possible should put on there that we want to hear 'We Are the Canberra Raiders' at the end of each victorious match.

I cringe everytime I hear "The Green Machine" song on TV. It's a shameful relic from a dark part of 80's Australian Culture.

The ONE thing QLD teams do well (apart from win a lot) is have good stadium music. The Titans run out to 'Welcome to the Jungle' which is just epic...

We should pick a similar, more contemporary song and adopt it as our run out tune...

I agree. What has "Welcome to the jungle" got to do with the Gold Coast Titans? The Green Machine song has history, and can never be changed.

I dont get it, The Green Machine is a shameful relic from the 80's, but Welcome to the Jungle (released in 1987) isn't?

If we're going to be contemporary why choose another song from the 80's?
