Do you think Carney will leave Canberra in 2009?
Poll time.
I think he will. The way he's going about his contract negotiations are slightly odd and more than a little worrying. He's either waiting to field offers from other clubs....or I dont know... I cant think why else he would delay if he actually did wish to remain in canberra.
It's quite annoying.

*sigh* Another thread dedicated to whether Carney will move or not.
From what we know from news articles, the situation hasn't changed over the course of the last year. Carney has been offered a 2 year extension and has stated that whilst he is keen to stay in Canberra, he wants to wait until after the pre-season trials.
It is also a distinct possibility that players may read these forums, in particular thegh.com.au, so imagine if the polls showed a majority voting for NO?
All we can do is hope that Carney shows the same loyalty that we have shown to him.
It really is a long off-season...

Glass houses mate.
He has said he wants to stay. I take people at their word.
I agree with Kermit, a longer term deal, would sweeten the pot.
Let's lock him up longer term and stop the other clubs sniffing around every second year. Let's give the other players another reason to want to stay with the Raiders and for those from elsewhere we may negotiate with in the future, the chance to play with a potential match winner.

It doesnt matter because we have Joel Thomson.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

He's delaying till other clubs know what they can offer him and put the Raiders offer up. He's bumping up his price and to be 100% fair to the kid, almost every one of us would do the same thing even if we would never pull on another jumper.raidersmalt wrote:Poll time.

We need not discuss this topic any further until something of significance happens I reckon.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.
I believe he will re-sign...
Then again, I believed Finch, Monaghan and Schifcofske would all stay too...
But seriously... I think he will stay. He can't have said much more to state his clear intentions. It's fair enough that he sees what else is available at other clubs too, so he knows what his value is on the market.

That's right after seeing what Schif did I don't beleive anyone anymore, at the end of the day the highest bidder will win, I do beleive though if the Raiders can come close to any other offer he may get he will re-sign, but why wait, why put off contract talks....if you want to re-sign then lets start talking......
I wish he could just learn from Tonguey...what he did last week and resigned even without a manager is just awesome !
