Rd 23 V Warriors: Player of the Year and Survivor

2007 Fans' Choice Player of the Year... AND Raiders Survivor

Image

Welcome to Round 23!

The Fans' Choice Player of the Year has now been awarded for the past three years, with Ruben Wiki being the winner in 2004, Jason Smith the winner in 2005 and Alan Tongue the winner in 2006.

The award to Alan Tongue was presented at the official post match function at the final home game at Canberra Stadium last year. We are building a great tradition here at The Greenhouse with this award, and you can be part of it!

Who will be the winner in 2007?

It is you who will decide!

In the Fans' Choice Player of the Year, you can register your votes here for the top performed Raiders player, on a 3-2-1 basis. The rules are you can only allocate 6 points or less each round, and can split them any way you like, but no "half" points are permitted and no player can be awarded more than 3 points.

So, you can give the best player 3 points, the second best 2 and the third best 1, in the traditional way. Or you can give two players 3 points each. Or you can give 3 players 2 points each etc.... No half points are permitted.

After Tuesday, Thickos aggregates all the points awarded by everyone to each player each round and then awards 3, 2, 1 points to three players.

Only votes made by Raiders fans will count.

The "Survivor" competition allows you to vote out the player whose time is up!

The rules are outlined here:

http://www.thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6765

To see who is already voted out, see this thread:

http://www.thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6915

This week's Survivor must come from one of the following players!

10. SCOTT LOGAN
13. ALAN TONGUE (c)

16. NEVILLE COSTIGAN

MICHAEL DOBSON (not playing)

As we are in the final stages of the competition, Dobson is eligible to be voted out this week if the voters wish to.

1 howell (would neva thought i would give him points, but he went really well, really gutsy performance. he is suited as a fullback being so tall, and good under the high ball tonight)
1 kelly (bad mistake early on, but did brilliantly to come back with 3 tries)
1 costigan (ran it hard and got over teh advantage line on every occasion, making vital meters for the team)
1 carney (dont think he is suited to halfback, but played his best game there tonight than he has played in a while, led the team around well and had some individual brilliance)
1 milne (2 tries scored on his wing early with manu just being too HUGE for him, but he proved in the 2nd half just how good he is in open space and returning the ball imo, plus when he held on to it at the end i thought instantlky that was good enough for a point!!)
1 best (thought he did a lot of hard work behind the scenes, a lot of unoticed stuff, played well)

yes i know they are all backs except costigan, and just about anyone could of got a point tonight, really good team effort, but these guy's just stepped up after maybe not playing there best footy of late...

survivor dobson, just because there is no way u could give it to toungey, costigan or logan!!

Dobbo got MOTM in PL tonight and there's no way he deserves to be voted out of Survivor!

I still don't think Kelly is a winger.

There were some shockers to go with the tries.

i agree about the shockers.. still not convinced he's the winger we need.. but i gotta say i was impressed with his tries.. they werent exactly a walk in the park.. showed some skill and speed for them..

    but anyways..

    2 pts: Thurling
    1 pt: Kelly

    Honourable mention to Howell.

Dishonourable mention to Costigan. I still maintain what I've said all year about him. His performances for our team have been over stated. He's mistake ridden.

    3 Points : Brett Kelly

All 3 of his tries he had a lot of work to do but somehow managed to get over the line! We need him to do this more often because having a finisher that can make something out of nothing is invaluable.
    - Made the absolute best of his opportunities, and chased the ball down even if there was only 1% chance he'd make it in time.

    2 Points : David Howell

I loved seeing some urgency and aggression at fullback. He made it his priority to get to the ball on the full and really took some difficult takes. By the start of the 2nd half I really felt at ease with him being back there. Wasn't flashy, but safe. Seems more dangerous in attack when he has more of the field to play with.

    1 Points : Trevor Thurling

Make most of our other forwards look like powderpuffs

Honourable Mention - Alan Tongue, for playing with a "MJ" Nose and getting through a lot of work, It shows how much he does when he's not there.

Survivor - Neville Costigan - For passing to the grass on several occasions.
    4 Time Boogs Award Winner.
