I think we should hold onto Frawley for now, maybe he will reach his potential under Neil Henry?

If things don't work out we can still try offload him before June 30...

June 30 is just another day on the calander now pal.

I havent heard a thing about who might want him or even where he might want to go. Obvioulsy a release would only happen if he had somewhere to go...

And yes I believe the contract breakdown wouldve been exactly as said. A lot up front and then a step down each year.

Wow wasn't aware that the whole no deadline went so far..

So does mean players can seek releases to play for another club at any stage of the season?

Interesting...

Well the deal is like this:

You can now negotiate a deal with a rival club at any stage of the year and at any stage of your contract. So if Troy Thompson is signed until 2010 with the raiders, he is well within his rights to sign with the rabbitohs for the 2011 season today if he wants.

A "release" is the process a player and club go through if both parties can agree on terms to break the contract. If a player is released he has every right to seek another contract with any of the clubs in Australia or overseas.

So to answer your question, in theory, yes, if the Raiders agree to release Craig Frawley tomorrow then he could be signed by another club on Wednesday and begin 07 season in that clubs playing roster.

ALSO

In theory, if Craig Frawley and the raiders both agreed to a contract release during the 07 season he could agree to terms with another club mid season and be playing for them the very next week. Of course this is unlikely due to cap restrictions. However Souths and David Peachey is a similar example.

No Stevie, Schifty was referring to the rule of no player could be released after June 30 and sign with a club for the same season (ie. for the finals in September), that rule is still in effect.

Interesting to see the whole Brent Kite rumour start up again over at LU......he has just bought a house in Quenbeyan and is rumoured to be at the Raiders for the 2008 season.....or possibly next year.

Cant see it happening.... :hmmm

Money wise, if we offloaded Frawley we could fit Kite in no dramas.

If he was going to sign with the raiders he wouldnt but a house in old struggle town (quenbeyan) to live. He probably just brought it to rent out or for a relative. I would love to see him back here in green but i doubt it

Well Kite is from Queanbeyan so I'm sure he has an attachment to it.

The rent would be cheaper for our younger guys I guess...

i agree
dont understand most the hype around kite, he looks OK is teams where the other forwards do all the real hard yakka. Will be interesting to see him try and lead the pack next year without BK and Menzies on his last legs

I cant believe he is in the Kangaroos team let alone starting this weekend!

And it also pi$ses me off to no end to see one of our youngsters at another club making the national team!

Not yet, but it was sounding like he wanted to stay and the club wants him to too.

We've gotta' get him locked up tight soon...

I get the feeling these two (with Toddy) are new 'supermacs'

It's a completely unfounded rumour that certainly doesn't deserve any legs....

But in the spirit of jumping to conclusions, I say it wasn't Lozza's idea. Instead, I blame Simon Woolford. Jerk.

You missed the obvious David Howell-Michael Potter-Aliens-StGeorge link

Sack Howell! he's single handedly undermining our player retention...

Didn't you ever wonder why he never left when Elliott did? ;)

Last year the dragqueens were linked with Carney so it was only a matter of time.
From the last report it sounded like Dobbo was basically ready to sign off on a new deal.

So if reports are right about Lomu then that would free up some money to offer Dobson more money. Maybe thats why they gave him that thing on the homepage call Dobo's Diary's.

I think you might be on to something, judging by the fact Dobo has been given his own rant on the website he's a definite starter all year bar injury

I wouldn't say that at all. Could be a PL reporter? It's just a write up, it doesn't guarantee him a place in the first grade lineup nor a contract extension beyond 2007.

Hope your right, the team hasn't benefited from walk-up starters in recent years...

Well Lomu needs to be taken off the list. And we have virtually noone coming of contract at the end of this year, should be able to retain Dobson.

Other then that:

Micheal Dobson - RETAIN
Vili Faingaa - end 2007 - Not sure (Undecided)
Craig Frawley - end 2007 - Let go unless he becomes usefull. He will be cheap anyway.
Ryan Hinchcliffe - end 2007 - RETAIN
Josh McCrone - end 2007 - RETAIN
Steve McLean - end 2007 - Undecided
Junior Sau - end 2007 - Undecided
Jason Williams - end 2007 - Undecided

* Lengthen the contracts of: of course pending how they play this year..

Todd Carney - end 2008
Marshall Chalk - end 2008
Brad Cross - end 2008
Bronx Goodwin - end 2008
Scott Logan - end 2008 (Maybe too old)
Trevor Thurling - end 2008
Alan Tongue - end 2008
Glen Turner - end 2008 (Maybe too old)
Michael Weyman - end 2008

If we are going to rebuild then lets **** do it now before clubs realise we have some good players..

The pictures of the PL players are up on the website. Here's Tim Weyman, almost a dead ringer for his brother.
