We are the Canberra Raiders
From the capital territory
The fans are waiting
There's no hesitating
We'll be striving for victory
Should we win
Should we lose
We'll be still flying high
... Can't remember this line...
To be part of the Raiders team
To be part of the Raiders team
To be part of the Raiders team

I was just saying to Thomas Pirivano that I remember singing that song in front of the El Alemain fountain in Kings Cross the night before the 1987 Grand Final... whole group of Raiders fans.... We were hopeful... but in the end, the Raiders lost. What a ride the whole thing was.

The memories come flooding back
Remember buying a yellow LP for a few dollars out at Seiffert then playing it over and over when i got home from the game
Those were the days

nothin like hearing it at the stadium. I won a copy on record back in 89 before the GF. Love playing it so loud the whole street can hear.

The missing line is 'And raise our banners to the sky'
I've got it on a green 7" record that they used to sell at Seiffert.
The b-side was a more rockin' number called 'Here Come the Raiders!'

I've never heard that before - not quite up to the standard of The Green Machine song, but good stuff nonetheless.
Speaking of which, could anyone upload the current anthem? That would be grand.

That was absolutely awesome! Brought a tear to the eye...
Thanks very much to Roy and Thickos et al.
I agree with Tonguetastic... I have lost the current song when I got a new computer recently. Would be good to have the new one too.

For all of you who have never heard the club's original club song... download it! It is old fashioned.... but brilliant! It is the song that the pioneers ran out to in 1982.... sounds just like some of the songs they still have at some clubs.... and any die hard Raiders fan has to have heard it! I hope the club uses it before the end of the season.

that's what I thought, even has a line from the swans song, or the swans have a line from ours.

I think it is more the nature of the times when the song was developed. All the rugby league football clubs had songs that sounded like that... but most have updated to new music. In AFL they never changed their songs.

I say bring it back! After a win, they play this, and get the crowd singing it again!
Then use the new one for other purposes

My friend now has the original song on cd.
He's going to pass one on to Robbo and ask him to play it at the next home match.
I think it has to be done seeing as it's the 25th anniversary and all!
Are we all in favour?
Let's make sure it happens.

It's a great, old-time song. To me it sounds similar to 'The Team of the Red and the Blue' from the Melbourne Demons AFL club.
Great song and I hope it gets a run in 2006 at some stage.
