You’ve answered my question before I even asked
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

tbh In a perfect world I have
Kris on the left with either HSS / Simonsson / Valemie / Cotric.
CNK on the right with Rapana.
I am also not huge on Guler over Sutton, I would have Sutton starting with Guler on the bench.

1. Savage
2. Cotric
3. Smith-Shields
4. Timoko

6. Wighton
7. Fogarty
8. Papalii
9. Hodgson
10. Tapine
11. Harawira-Naera
12. Whitehead
13. Elliott
14. Starling
15. Sutton
16. Hola
17. Young
This is how I'd like to see us line up for round one assuming no other recruits for 2022. I just can't have Savage on the wing or in reserve grade to start the year. He has to get a crack to start at fullback imo. I had CNK in the centres initially but as Timoko is first cab off the rank for me for injury/suspension to backs, he comes into centre and CNK pushes out to the wing. He will be able to assist Savage there for the first couple games too. It gives both Smith-Shields and Timoko a shot to claim one of the centre positions before Rapana comes back. I can't have Croker above any of the guys listed but I wouldn't disrespect it if he was granted an opportunity to hold his spot first.
Sutton and Hola are in my prop rotation. From what I've seen of Hola, he seems more suited to prop in this game than lock or second row. I initially had Elliott on the interchange to give Whitehead a spell at second row. But I'm tempted now to have him starting at lock. I wasn't confident with having Young as a starter in my team, I think he's on the bench maybe to give Whitehead a spell at second row for me. I'd like to see Guler find some consistency in reserve grade at starting prop before coming back. I think he could really benefit from that, he has an error or two in his game he needs to polish up on.
I think this would be a solid team to start with but I'd like to see Mooney and Rushton get a chance if they're ready. We've got a decent prop rotation but there are question marks over the back row still. Second row is the position I'd say we're thin in, if injury strikes there it will be a concern.

The people here clearly want Savage at fullback and CNK in the centres. I get the feeling it has that changed feeling where we are moving away from aged legs in Croker and leaning back into attacking flair. You'd love to somehow have Cotric defend at 3, Savage on the wing and CNK at fullback but in attack line up how listed above. We all know that if he can run Croker will be in at 3 round 1. There is no way around it.
Elliott will be in the starting team, or off the bench Round 1. Given the way the club has shown him off to the media.
Apart from that our forward strength runs deep, Hola a decent recruit. Our three developed forwards Esera, Mooney and Rushton all look the goods. Having seen Rushton in pictures this off season, he has put on some serious BULK. Much different to the skinny teen we only brought in last offseason.

Our team looks very solid.
2022 on talent alone we should be top 6.
Hopefully the horror show of '21 motivates them and contains their ego.

WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT'S BEEN
Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
That's very, very optimistic imo.
I think Easts, Penrith, Souths (even without Reynolds), Melbourne and Manly are streets ahead of anyone else based on squads alone.
I could only see key player injury or mass injuries taking any of them out of the top 6 at end of season.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Needs more Timoko
Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
I think that's close. Im anticipating this following to be our 17 in Round 1
1. CNK
2. Cotric
3. Croker
4. Timoko
5. Savage
6. Wighton
7. Fogarty
8. Papalii
9. Hodgson
10. Tapine
11. CHN
12. Young
13. Whitehead
14. Starling
15. Guler
16. Elliott
17. Sutton
CHN is basically going to cover the backs... if we lose one. He'll be a 1 for 1 at centre. If we lose a winger, he goes to centre, with Croker going to the wing and if we lose Charze, it's Savage to fullback, Croker to wing and CHN to centre.

Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
Is that the adjustment you'd make or the one you anticipate Stick will make. Schiller and Semi well ahead of Croker as a winger, even after Semi's clanger last year. Croker would be there solely for the goal kicking, he'd go into the Covell / Crossan honour roll of wingers that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.Botman wrote: ↑February 22, 2022, 1:24 pm I think that's close. Following the trials and comments by Sticky I think we'll see something close to:
1. CNK
2. Cotric
3. Croker - co-captaincy with EW and first choice goal kicker.
4. Timoko
5. Savage
6. Wighton
7. Fogarty
8. Papa
9. Hodgo - Will start and go for 25-30 minutes.
10. Tapine
11. Young
12. CHN
13. EW
14. Starling
15. Sutton
16. Horsburgh - His game against Manly got him over the line for me. Gone was the rubbish of the Chooks game. Some good passing.

Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
Yeah I'll take one of those. Although completely open to Kris, Elliott, Guler or Hola taking that last spot on the bench instead of Horse. Mooney and Sutton provide quite good cover in the middle for Taps and Papa who are quite fit too.
Still think we should persist with Savage at the back with CNK in the centres, though Rapa being suspended does make it a bit of a tougher call to make.
And if CHN is not on the edge, what a terrible call.

None taken mate. I just found Timoko trialling on the left and Croker playing halves in the trial a bit strange. And the fact none of us probably want Semi in the side almost makes his selection a moral!

10. Tapine
11. Young
12. CHN
13. EW
14. Starling
15. Sutton
16. Horsburgh - His game against Manly got him over the line for me. Gone was the rubbish of the Chooks game. Some good passing.
17. Kris - To cover a backline injury or even backrow if required
Savage to miss out all together
Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
I’d say it was more to do with if Croker can’t last the season Timoko will move to the left and a right center needs to be found considering HSS is goneWiki Special wrote: ↑February 26, 2022, 7:34 pm None taken mate. I just found Timoko trialling on the left and Croker playing halves in the trial a bit strange. And the fact none of us probably want Semi in the side almost makes his selection a moral!

Re: 2022 Rd 1 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
IMO Semi only got a gig at centre because Stuart wanted to test Kris and Savage on the wing to cover Rapana.
I'll be amazed if our centres aren't Croker and Timoko come round 1.
No chance CNK isn't playing fullback.
Hopefully Whitehead gets named at lock.

Unfortunately I just can't see Valemei being played at right centre 2 weeks in a row as anything other than giving him game time where he'll play.
I think the trials showed we are probably short on genuine wingers (though I do think Anderson could play first grade) especially if Stuart doesn't want to start tye season with Savage.
I'm hoping Croker or Kris play centre with Savage on the wing. But I'm preparing myself for 2 blokes out of position on the right. Valemei centre and Kris wing. Ugh.

well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

I think Semi was just getting a run because he's barely played any rugby league (what 30 games including reggies in his entire career?) and needs time to learn. I'd be amazed if Rick sees him in FG before exhausting other options.julian87 wrote: ↑February 27, 2022, 7:57 am Unfortunately I just can't see Valemei being played at right centre 2 weeks in a row as anything other than giving him game time where he'll play.

Kris hasn't seemed to kick on at all. I don't see him getting a run.
What I expect to be named, not what I want to see though.
1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
2. Nick Cotric
3. Croker
4. Timoko
5. Xavier Savage
6. Jack Wighton
7. Jamal Fogarty
8. Josh Papalii
9. Josh Hodgson
10. Joe Tapine
11. Hudson Young
12. Adam Elliott
13. Elliott Whitehead (c)
14. Tom Starling
15. Ryan Sutton
16. Corey Harawira-Naera
17. Corey Horsburgh
18. Sebastian Kris
By halfway through the season I'd like to see Moony has pushed out Hors. If he's not dropping it he's giving away penalties, he hurts momentum from the bench that way instead of bringing it.
Also CHN starting with Elliot the bench utility/spelling for Whitehead in the normal rotation so we always have a ballplayer there.
Savage for CNK once we get sick of watching CNK freeze up and die with the ball with an overlap outside him.
Starling playing 80 at hooker. I think Hodgo jumped the shark a while back.

Was there any official word on why Guler didn't play? I took it as though he'd played so many minutes last week due to injury he was rested.BadnMean wrote: ↑February 27, 2022, 9:12 amI think Semi was just getting a run because he's barely played any rugby league (what 30 games including reggies in his entire career?) and needs time to learn. I would hope it's your side named with Guler in for Hors, CHN starting for Elliott and either Elliott/Kris on the bench for CHN

Guler seemed to be at his sister’s wedding.
