The CT report indicating Valemei may be in the mix for this week, while Harley Smith Shields is recovering well and should be back ahead of schedule.

Curtis Scott's stand down means Matt Timoko will get his chance in the Raiders centres against the Brisbane Broncos at Canberra Stadium on Saturday. Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker (knee) is still a few weeks away from being ready, with the Gold Coast Titans in round 16 his likely return.
"He's worked hard at his game and it will be his third appearance so it's a good opportunity for him," Ricky Stuart said.

Bit strange how Croker publicly declares he’s putting his had up for selection this week, but he apparently won’t be fit until round 16...

Has anyone heard whether Croker is on the outer with Ricky due to form issues ? I also regard it as strange. Is Ricky protecting him from himself due to his form and he doesn't regard him as one of the top 3 centres at the club?Finchy wrote: ↑June 7, 2021, 5:17 pmI had to check if that article title was actually legit!-TW- wrote: ↑June 7, 2021, 4:28 pm Kokomo's no-no gives Timoko a go-go

Re: 2021 Rd 14 V Broncos: Teams and Previews
I'm sure that Ricky Stuart said at one point that Jarrod's knee is now bone on bone... but I can't find the quote. I can find news reports stating that. But that's no doubt the reason why it is taking so long. Managing a knee in that condition is pretty difficult.

I just hope we see someone other than Caleb Aekins at fullback. He tries hard but gee whiz the first grade team is not capable of carrying him as it stands. Simonsson or Rapana have to be trialed there now that it’s not longer a short term stop gap spot.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Re: 2021 Rd 14 V Broncos: Teams and Previews
Fullback is by far our biggest issue at the moment. Other than the fact our middle forwards are lazy and unfit of course. Guler, Hors, Taps, Lui and even Papa have been very disappointing.
If those two matters could be addressed we could be competitive.
Our 3/4 line will be a shambles, but that doesn't worry me. Happy to wear that if it means Curtis Scott has played his last game for the club.

Interesting.
No Croker.
Aekins gone.
Simmo at fullback.
Tomoko starting.
Hodgo starting.
Papa and Taps back.
I mean out of a bad side that's probably the best possible side named. At least it's different.
EDIT: Think above side is wrong. NRL.com has Tomoko at #4.

Keen to see how this side goes.
They'll target the hell out of that Timoko / Williams pairing so we'll probably wear a couple of tries there but I'm expecting improved enthusiasm from the kids and the returning rep players.

Re: 2021 Rd 14 V Broncos: Teams and Previews
I don't mind the team named except I'd like to see us move away from naming props at lock. None of the good sides are doing this in 2021. Tapine and Sutton are out and out props and should be part of the prop rotation imo. We need a genuine, modern 13 to play in that position. The thing that is most frustrating is we went in to this year with the wrong tactics/personnel for the way the game has evolved and we seem to be doing little to correct this error to prepare for future seasons.

I wouldn't get too excited and laugh just yet with Hunt playing 6 - remember Brandon Wakeham nearly got the better of us, and Will Smith (Parra), Kurt Mann (Newcastle), Chris Lewis (Storm) and Joey Manu (Roosters - not a regular 5/8) did
If Ricky's BBQ went well (as mentioned on NLR 360 last night), then we should win. It will be close though - Brisbane beat Roosters easily and led Penrith until 5 mins remaining
