Wow, really sticking your neck out!
Well, to be fair I said we'd lose to both the Cowboys AND the Knights and I was widely mocked for both, so I think I've earned the benefit of the doubt here.

Currently leading Raider666 2-nil on that front.
We will beat Storm and the Roosters also
If we beat the dogs, we may well beat the Roosters, but there is no way we beat the Storm.
We're going to win the comp mate.
How do you see it developing? We beat the Dogs and go on a massive run...

Sam Williams should be on the bench every week until GW is dropped out. Start giving Sam some game time and ditch this overrated signing

There has to be some sort of David Howell/Craig Frawley/Bill Tupou type combination somewhere. Maybe even a Mark Asbock or James Buser.

Canterbury forum debating their coaches team list.

"Baz must not rate Schoupp at all"

"Kid has major defensive issues. Kris and Scott would be a handful for anyone let alone a kid."

Let us never sink to this level (again?).

Pretty much we are up 40 at halftime and we win by a fieldgoal and the whole season turns around and Ricky gets coach of the year :thumbsup

We haven't smashed a team since 2018. Not going to happen this weekend either. I would be happy for a **** win, even against the spoon favourites. That said, watch Cotric absolutely smoke us, all the exRaiders always do at some point :(

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Josh Hodgson back for Canberra Raiders as Ricky Stuart rings changes again

Canberra Raiders prop Josh Papalii says securing two points this weekend would go a long way to turning the Raiders' fortunes.

"A win in this industry just mellows a few things out, [it] doesn't put the coaching staff on hammer all the time as well," Papalii said. "Senior players, our whole club in general can do with a win right now."

Round 10 Canberra Raiders team: 1. Caleb Aekins 2. Bailey Simonsson 3. Sebastian Kris 4. Curtis Scott 5. Semi Valemei 6. Jack Wighton 7. George Williams 8. Josh Papalii 9. Tom Starling 10. Emre Guler 11. Corey Harawira-Naera 12. Elliott Whitehead (c) 13. Hudson Young 14. Josh Hodgson 15. Dunamis Lui 16. Corey Horsburgh 17. Ryan James 18. Sam Williams 19. Matt Timoko 20. Siliva Havili 21. Harry Rushton

Raiders morale still sky high among players, says refreshed prop Josh Papalii

Josh Papalii is adamant morale in the playing camp is as high as it was when the Raiders kicked off in round one as genuine premiership contenders.

"[It's] the same as round one to this round, still positive, everyone's still working pretty hard, the younger boys are pushing the senior boys with playing well, they're keeping us on our toes," Papalii said. "The camp's pretty good at the moment."

2007/08 we were exciting. Zillman was a weapon before his knee busted, Phil Graham needs no introduction, Best was amazing in 08. Joel Monaghan a rep player. Chalk was a solid player

If that's the worst that could be dug up, this week's falls well short

Yeah I'm thinking something in the 2001-2 sort of era is probably the worst in my time. Brad and Shane Kelly, James Buser, Mark Asbock, Odell Manuel, Anthony Swann, James Evans and co. Those teams generally had Shif at the back which added a little credibility, but man there were some average players around him!

Hoping for a good return from Hodgson, so long as he gets more than 10 minutes playing time. I don't think he deserves some of the criticism he has been receiving lately. He has been a wonderful player for us.

I agree. Doesn’t deserve the criticism but does deserve enough minutes to prove himself.

I’m actually hoping his injection off the bench might be the remedy we need for the second half slump.

Hopefully Stuart doesn't save him until the final ten minutes though... I would be happy to see him come on in the first 30 minutes, more so than the last 30 at least.

This is also the first time Ricky has left Havilii out this year. So Hodgo is in that role in Ricky's bench use to some degree.

In light of that, wouldn't be surprised at all if Starling and Hodgo are both out there at some stage. I've not always been a fan of Hodgo at lock but at this stage we are really searching for a combination.

Good to have Ryan James back in the team. For whatever reason we seem the play better up the middle when he's on the field.

its definitely the plan, stuart mentioned it in one of the press conferences a few weeks back that the plan was for Hodgson to spend a bit of time at lock with Starling at hooker but the injuries/HIA's during games had thwarted that plan.
We don't ask enough questions in the middle or have a link man with a passing game at lock so this is worth a go IMO

Yeah I've wondered if Tapine goes we might be well served to but Whitehead at lock next season before he ages out of the edge spot, he's got the toughness and ball playing and would still be a very mobile middle.

I reckon that's because he's a better middle than most of our other middles. I've got him streets ahead of Guler and Hors at this stage. He's had a few less opportunities but he could be going as well as Sutton.

Havili has been underwhelming this season but circumstances meant we had to pick him the last 3 weeks.
Looking forward to seeing if Hodgson a bit fresher can remedy our 50th minute woes.

They really did. Particularly at home, we were always hard to beat - even when we were a clear step below the oppositions in terms of talent. Makes it all the more galling to watch the current group of talented players rolling over and conceding 30+ points every time they play at Bruce.

I would suggest scene is set for a smokey re: Hodgo and Starling. Hodgo is a starter not really an impact bench player. Starling, like he did last year, off the bench to provide punch around tired middles. Makes more sense. However, sticky and 'sense' in relation to bench use of late don't seem to have anything in common.

Rd 4 2008

Or Rd 14 2008

I think the winner is Rd 22 2007

4. Colin Best
5. Brett Kelly
They’re all better than this one. Let’s not forget how good Colin Best was. Joel Monaghan was an international. And the centre pairing in the ‘winner’ is just so much better than the current one.

100% agree NR. Hopefully one of Papa and James is always on the field and sometimes both. They gain meters up the middle and that is a good platform for the 6, 7 and 9 to play off.

Hudson Young backs hooker Tom Starling to continue recent NRL form against Canterbury Bulldogs

Hudson Young believes his good mate Tom Starling is one of the only Raiders players who can claim to have been playing their best footy in season 2021.

"I think Tommy, you know what you're going to get out of him each week," Young said. "He's high energy and he's always going to put his best foot forward and he's been playing well."
