Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
Lui needs to be in the team, affghjgktlktl was 100% right all along. We haven't won a game without him and I can't see we will again until he's back.

Yep I’ve seen enough of Aekins to decide I really don’t want to see any more. He’s tried hard but nothing I’ve seen suggests he has got it. Threw a nice pass or two but doesn’t seem fast. Terrible position play in defence and misses some key tackles. Whether it’s Simo/Raps or Jack dropping back for a few weeks Cody Walker style I’m not fussed. If there is another young bloke worth a shot let’s get him in but thanks for your time Caleb.bonehead wrote: ↑May 10, 2021, 12:11 pmagreed bar 1, Scott in for Aekins - Simo and Rapa to share the 1Botman wrote:Assuming Croker, Sutton, CNK and Hodgson are still out

If you can work out his point, let me know. I loved this bit of insight:
"Winning three of their first four games is the only reason they're not right at the bottom."

17. Matt Frawley giving Ricky the option of playing him in the centres or moving Jack out wide if there's an injury.
18. Sam Williams though with Ricky, he'll probably want Sia somewhere in the team.
* Tapine is out injured for a few weeks. Ditto Sutton.

I quite like that team. Think it can scrape past the Bulldogs. No chance against the Storm, but I can't see any team named with the above players out that would stand a chance against the Storm.Botman wrote: ↑May 10, 2021, 11:49 am Assuming Croker, Sutton, CNK and Hodgson are still out

By his logic, losing 6 of our last 7 games is the only reason we're not right at the top.greeneyed wrote: ↑May 10, 2021, 1:10 pm EXCLUSIVE: Paul Gallen on Canberra Raiders struggles: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/paul-galle ... 3d330100bd

Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
As is the Greenhouse way, when there is an article written about the Raiders, we prefer to attack the author rather than the content.
Unlike any of us, Gallen has actually been coached by Ricky at both a club and state level. He was also at a club that Ricky coached that went from a losing preliminary final to the Storm, to second last the year after.
I think he might have some experience worth listening to.
I thought his insights on how Ricky would be thinking were interesting. The rest is basically what the rest of us have been saying.

We were much better with Young in the second row. CHN back to reserve grade please

Aekins isn't working out at fullback. Worst positioning in the game. Simo has been bog average at best this year but his preferred position is fullback (not sure whether I just made that up)... let's see how he goes.

Canberra Raiders likely to be forced into more changes
Englishman Ryan Sutton is awaiting scan results on the elbow he injured in Saturday's loss to Newcastle and could miss several weeks. The Raiders will also assess Joe Tapine (knee) and Jordan Rapana (hamstring) after another dire day for the club in Wagga Wagga. Hooker Josh Hodgson is expected to be available for selection after missing three matches with a calf injury.

That's generally how a ladder works Paul, if you win more than the bottom team you won't be at the bottomgreeneyed wrote:EXCLUSIVE: Paul Gallen on Canberra Raiders struggles: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/paul-galle ... 3d330100bd

Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
If Sam Williams is fit, he needs to play, let’s just cut ties with George Williams and send him home, clearly he does not want to be here, Croker in for “Stability” , Valemai in for Simonsson, he needs to play some park footy, Scott just needs to be fired by cannon into the sun, Timoko or that other bloke to replace him, and in the forwards, CHN has the football brain equivalent of o pea, so he gets changed out for anyone who “ Bleeds Green” with half a brain, Hodgson in for Starling, just because he will more than likely be calling Suncorp home so May as well give him a sort of home coming, the rest of the team is anyone’s guess

Wow. Going to be a time just putting together a starting 13. What date are the development players allowed to have a crack?greeneyed wrote: ↑May 10, 2021, 5:42 pm Canberra Raiders likely to be forced into more changes

The reports keep talking about after Round 10 for development and NSW Cup players, but who knows, it might be from Round 10. I would think that the NRL would consider an exemption request if needed.zim wrote: ↑May 10, 2021, 7:00 pmWow. Going to be a time just putting together a starting 13. Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews
I'm assuming Hodgson is back and the rest are out/still out (Tapine, Croker, Rapana, Valemei, HSS, Hopoate, CNK, Sutton)
1. Caleb Aekins
2. Bailey Simonsson
3. Matthew Timoko
4. Curtis Scott
5. Sebastian Kris
6. Jack Wighton
7. George Williams
8. Josh Papalii
9. Josh Hodgson (c)
10. Emre Guler
11. Hudson Young
12. Elliot Whitehead (c)
13. Siliva Havili
14. Tom Starling
15. Corey Harawira-Naera
16. Corey Horsburgh
17. Ryan James
18. Dunamis Lui
19. Adam Cook
20. Sam Williams
21. Kai O'Donnell
CHN to come on for Havili with Young shifting to the middle. Both props to sub out after 20mins. Hodgson after 25mins. When they come back on really depends on the game but no long 30min straight stints.
If Savage had any NSW cup game time I'd consider pushing him up on to the wing and keeping Kris at centre.

You know things are bad when indiscriminate changes are being proposed - with or without specific names.

So what do you guys think a realistic goal should now be for this season?
Blood some young guys?
Release some dead wood?
Scrape into 8 and maybe take a team down before being eliminated?
All the above?

Making the 8 to be cannon fodder doesn't interest me.
Plus it rewards the mediocre planning around recruitment and fitness that has seen us implode so embarrassingly ...
