The Rolling Stones need to save my night.

At least Jack left it to Williams to kick out on the full.

I said it during the game. Right at the 60 minute mark we hit the wall. Nobody moving up, no hits in defence no gas left in the tank. It's simply unacceptable for a professional sporting team.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Depends how you look at it I guess. Definitely won the first half and led for most the second so out of 80 minutes we won most of them but yeah we lost really badly.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

This is a carbon copy of 2018...just with a little added adversity in terms of injuries. Too heavy in the middle, not enough speed or stamina, terrible edge defence, zero organisation or strategy in attack...and just like 2018 we have lost to the **** Knights.

The funny thing is that a lot of what the fans have been crying out for was on display tonight. We had Starling providing improved service out of dummy half, the halves more prominent in attack, Croker out for Kris etc. And just like 2018 when Blake Austin was benched, it hasn't made a lick of difference because we are a fundamentally unbalanced team that has zero morale.

It's rebuild time everyone...not sure what untapped market Ricky is going to tap this time to have exactly the type of players we need fall into our laps (geez we miss Bateman).

And Hodgson.

We'd only lost to the Warriors (missing three players), Panthers and Eels (sides 1 and 2) when Ricky decided Hodgo needed to hear some hard truths.

This is Ricky's side, he didn't inherent them. They are badly coached, badly conditioned and don't seem to care anymore. He's lost the locker-room and when that happens in professional sport, the coach has to go. But not in the Raider's world where mediocrity is embraced if it belongs to its favourite sons! I don't think I've seen an NRL side so unfit for a long time! To save more grief and heartache I've mentally drawn a line on this season and will not be back next season and I'm not Robinson Crusoe!
It's a simple game; tackle, back-up, pass, hold the ball! What did I say? "Hold the bloody ball!!"

Im still fuming about this loss. Especially after my baby decided to fill his nappy right on half time, and after further complications prevented me from dropping $50 on the Knights @ 15:1 By the time baby was sorted Knights had run in their first type. Most expensive ever.

Don't think he will be fired. Even if we come 12th or below this year.
But I don't think we will win in his last 2 years here, or even make top 4. Other teams so much better than us now and have recruited well. Our team will break up after this year.

We would go close to winning the comp with Bellamy or Robinson. I know it's hypothetical, but look at Bellamy and what he has done with Reimis Smith and Jennings. And before that Hughes. You think we would have the 2nd half fades with those two?

I even think we would do better with a different voice like Wayne Bennett and I don't really like Wayne.

I could start a new thread called the Bateman Slump (aka Sophomore Slump) but can’t be bothered so in summary it might be argued the 19/20 outliers can literally be attributed to the impact and aura of one player.

Bateman hardly played last year and besides the Cowboys game in his first game back, had indifferent form.

I actually don't think it's a matter of missing the big plays like Tapine's tackle on JAC to jolt the ball in the semi at AAMI or Papa scoring close to the line versus Storm - I think we are just not close and our defence is letting us down

In 2019/2020 there were a group of players playing consistently well every week. Also the group and coach had confidence in each other. That's not the case this year.

We are old, we are slow, we are a team too big and too unfit for the new rules of the game......we bombed 3 second half tries....
Our attack coming off our own defensive half is too predictable and easy for opposition defences, and we allow their attacking sets easy metres.... nothing new this season. Time for a big shake up and bring in some youth before they walk out the door, and we are left with the same old and slow team for next season :rant

I don't remember a single set where we drove them back in tackles and pressured them when they had the ball. Panthers, Storm do this week in week out. We did it in 2019 and to a lesser extent in 2020 and it proved effective in building confidence in other areas of the game. Where has our aggression gone when we don't have the ball? Single player hits have taken the place of two or three in the tackle driving the opposition backwards and locking up the ball to stop offloads. It is the biggest piece of teamwork I am missing from the past 2 years. It requires commitment and players sticking to the defensive plan for the full 80 minutes. Dig out your 2019 notes Sticky and get the players heads focused on it. If necessary dig out tapes of 2019 and show the players how they formerly gave it to the opposition.

I think that’s also fitness RR. 3 people in a tackle triples your tackle efforts for the team. They haven’t got the petrol in the tank it seems.

They’re emptying the tank each week. It’s just the petrol light comes on at half time.

The presser left me feeling more dejected than the fulltime score. Ricky seems like a broken man with absolutely no answers which doesn't bide well for the next 16 weeks.
