That was a tough interview to watch with Papalli he knows the coach doesn't have the answers to this mess.
The efforts of CHN and Scott in key plays would have them thrown out of high performing squads.
There needs to be a clear captain that players feel held accountable to in this team and with Bateman gone its even more apparent than ever!

You can keep changing players each week and the results will be the same, they are simply unfit. That’s why they play a good first half and fade in the second - no stamina. Best case scenario we jag a win or two in the next few weeks and go on a run after origin when our fitness improves. Ricky needs to be held accountable for the lack of pre season
Re: 2021 Rd 9 V Knights: Game Day
Would love to see someone ask Ricky at the presser if he is aware that the team is not scoring any points in the second half. His reaction would tell me something.

Is it possible to improve fitness mid season or are locked on a path on based on your pre-season with only minimal scope for gains or losses?

It's too hard to drastically alter conditioning levels mid-season.jimmy82 wrote: ↑May 8, 2021, 5:09 pm You can keep changing players each week and the results will be the same, they are simply unfit. Best thing now is to go F1 style, write the season off knowing we won't do **** and start planning heavily for next season. That won't involve Stuart leaving, but it should involve a shake up of his backroom staff.

Regression to the mean. We had a couple of good years, let's face it, it was never going to last. We've all been here before as Raiders fans. It's back to regular programming. We're average again

Beaten by the Knights, imagine what is going to happen when we start playing the good teams! Souths also beat us easily but then got flogged by Mel the next week!
It's a simple game; tackle, back-up, pass, hold the ball! What did I say? "Hold the bloody ball!!"

I’ll defend the Raiders to the hilt, but the fact that Curtis Scott couldn’t even fall over on top of the ball to help his team is indefensible.
If he’s named again for next week I’ll be furious.

No, do accept this - we're basically the same side as last year minus two players.Canberra Milk wrote: ↑May 8, 2021, 5:15 pm Regression to the mean. What's most disappointing for me is that they actually used the ball like I always want them to. They tried their hands. But they were just **** and ineffective

Frankly Newcastle were appalling in that first half. We really hadn't played great to get to 16-0, as soon as they scored straight after half time you knew it was only going one way.
Curtis Scott: never again. That effort with the game on the line was unforgivable.

Depends on when you cut it off. The only second halves we won this year were round 1 and round 4, we have lost every other one.Raiders666 wrote: ↑May 8, 2021, 5:01 pmThey kept on saying that during the game but I'm sure we scored more than that against the Tigers in the 2nd half. Not that it matters. We also scored a try in the 2nd half of the Warriors and the Titans gamegangrenous wrote: ↑May 8, 2021, 4:52 pm So is that 93-8 in second halves?

MATCH REPORT: Canberra Raiders' second-half woes continue with Knights loss
The Canberra Raiders were again their own worst enemies as their second-half woes have continued. They failed to score a point in the second 40 to go down to the Newcastle Knights 24-16 at Wagga Wagga on Saturday. They'd led 16-0 at half-time before capitulating in the second stanza.

Canberra Raiders slump to fifth straight defeat
Persevere, stick together and stay strong. That's all Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart says they can do after they slumped to their fifth straight defeat.
"I can't get fired up over a bunch of blokes who are doing everything they possibly can to play their best and to win a game of football. Things aren't going for us at the moment. We won games like that last year and probably got luck, got the bounce of the ball. We've just got to persevere and stay strong."

‘Disturbing’ Raiders flaw laid bare as shocking stat highlights Ricky headache
Canberra blew a 16-0 half time lead to lose the club’s fifth consecutive game, with Newcastle staging a comeback to win 24-16 on Saturday. The Raiders have conceded 93 points and scored only 8 in second halves in their last five games.
“I honestly can’t put my finger on it,” Josh Papalii said. “We come out with the right intent and then in the second half we drift away from what’s working, whether that’s going too laterally. (Stuart) is probably very angry, very disappointed, because we’ve got the team there to do it and we’re just not performing the last 40 minutes of the game.”

Some of the players should be embarrassed by what they served up today. They are meant to be professionals and the effort of some was damn amateur hour.

Ricky doesn't know the answer. Instead of blaming the refs, it's luck this time that we didn't win - the ball not bouncing up for GWilliams to score on the Papa and Rapa kicks. And the fact that we don't have anything going for us.
Denies there's anything in the camp when asked by a journalist it looked like the team put the problems behind them in the first half. Says on the outside it looks like problems but not inside.

what are we paying for the wooden spoon?
Re: 2021 Rd 9 V Knights: Game Day
I actually stopped caring. This season is cooked.
A proper top 4 side would have gone on to win that game by 40 or 50. And we ...
So we arent that standard and are making up thr numbers. No point worrying about it. Top 8 is not an achievement for this club anymore. Contending for the premiership is and that aint gonna happen this year.

I have to admit I got a laugh when the misses ( who watches bugger all footy ) said “ that bloke must be a idiot, every game he does something stupid. He’s a good player but why did he kick on the first tackle “ in reference to rapanas kick after the line break late in the game
Re: 2021 Rd 9 V Knights: Game Day
