Re: George Williams homesick for England?
It seems like when we recruit these Englishmen, they either really love it and want to be citizens (Hodgo and Elliott) or they get homesick and want to skip dodge asap (Bateman and possibly Williams)
Then there's Jordan Turner. Not sure where Sutton falls either. He seems to be a stayer

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
If true, (big IF), what are our options? Do we have any good half-backs in the lower grades? Do we promote Sammy to first string? Do we look at what's in the market? Adam Reynolds' kicking game would be wonderful to have

If it's true then I think we need to seriously look in to bringing in an organising half with an A grade kicking game. That's where we're lacking at the moment.

Reynolds is staying in Sydney, likely joining Cronulla.
Moses will stay at Parra.
Watch Ricky try bring Sezer back, you just know it.

Are these just the vagaries of the Ricky Stuart coaching life cycle?

I could understand the homesick thing for Bateman given his daughter, but who is G Willy homesick for? His mummy and daddy? It almost sounds like the kind of excuse an agent makes up when they’re trying to gain a release on compassionate grounds so they can negotiate a better deal for their client.

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
His partner is British I assume and I'm sure I saw somewhere they are having a kid? Seems pretty normal to me tbh to want to get home especially during these covid times of not being able travel home.
Absolutely sucks for us, but hardly surprising.
You really get that something is rotten at the club feeling don't you.
Probably time to look to rebuild.

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
Not sure how much he is on but with big coin being tossed around for off market halves I reckon his manger wants a piece of the pie.
Going forward though will essentially two running halves work in the NRL? Our kicking game is very very bad at the moment.
(I’m secretly looking forwards to seeing Sammy in firsts this week just for a kicking game)

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
I really hope the club makes a play for Adam Reynolds. He would legit be perfect for our club right now. Although with everything that seems to be happening (Papa rested, Taps drama, horrible bench rotation) I’m starting to get massive concerns that we are soon reverting back to a 6 to 12 place team.
I do think we can click but the more I watch them, the less likely I think they can and it’s so disappointing

Couldnt agree more.
Moses wont win a premiership unless there are other stars around him to lead the way. Dont chase him. Moses is a lot about... Moses himself.
Reynolds yes.

Because until GW comes out and says I want to go home, it's all fairy dust and unicorn farts as far as I'm concernedThe Nickman wrote:Why is it a big if? Re: George Williams homesick for England?
All this talk about “rebuild” is utter tosh. We made prelims last year and folks wants to jettison one of our best players, based on a few losses (one of which he didn’t play)? We’ve been crying out for a half back of GWs calibre for decades. Sure he’s not a natural 7 but tries, assists and repeat sets last year proves he belongs in the jersey.
We need to fight for GW, do whatever it takes to keep him at the Raiders. Buy him an emotional support dog if we have to. The kicker is this, if we lose GW we could go another 10-20 years before we find another capable half back. Good half backs are few and far between and very rarely do they want to come to Canberra. If it’s not GW its probably going to be Sam Williams or Schneider who could well be the next Mitch Cornish.

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
Adam Reynolds would be exactly what we're looking for - an organising half with a great kicking game. However, $1mil a year for somebody who will shortly be 31 years old is not good value.

Re: George Williams homesick for England?
I wouldn't let his age be an inhibitor. Reynolds playing style relies more on his skills above the neck than below. He can still be effective at 32 or 33. More importantly he would be an excellent complement to Wighton.Raiders_Pat wrote: ↑May 3, 2021, 4:58 pmAdam Reynolds would be exactly what we're looking for - an organising half with a great kicking game. I think he would likely still be effective but I just don't think anybody is worth $1mil at 34 besides players at the level of Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, etc.Northern Raider wrote: ↑May 3, 2021, 5:11 pmI wouldn't let his age be an inhibitor.
