Quite a shift in the backs but we need a spark there and cowboys are a safe team to test this out against. We should win this off our forward pack alone so a great time to tinker with the back line.
Sutton played 65+ minutes tonight and every one of them looked good to me. With CHN in good NSW cup form and his utility value, that makes Sia and Havili obsolete on the bench. Time for the new guard to come through and take over from the old boys.
Starling HAS to get 10 mins before half time and significant 2nd half minutes, he’s just so advantageous and can’t be an afterthought.
Really want Big Red in the team too as a short minute impact guy, but 3 weeks in a row now we’ve lost outside backs to HIAs and carrying an outside back on the bench, especially Rapana with so much experience and confidence is too good to pass up I think.
It’s time for Stick to acknowledge that 2019 is done, and we have too much depth and youth at this club to be sticking with the old lads. It’s detrimental to our premiership chances. I need to see Atleast 2 of

Actually you know what there are too many issues in this team for me to try and pick a team.
I'll just wait for Lui and Kris to come in for Guler and Starling respectively.

Re: 2020 Rd 7 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews
Glad to see Stick own his selection mistake in the presser. Hopefully some are held accountable in selection this week.
It’s the perfect point to swing the axe I feel. Just early enough in the season that we’ve got plenty of time to grow combinations if we need, and we’ve got a competitive enough record to make semis from here.
We can’t afford to keep burning precious first grade games on players like Sia and Croker at this point. Kris and CHN HAVE to come in. One of Simonsson or Rapana have to be dropped this week, at least to the bench. I understand not dropping both but one gotta be shown they can’t dish this up. I really don’t want a 17/18 repeat. Life is so much more enjoyable when The Green Machine is rolling.

Would also like to see Aekins and CNK in the same backline. Aekins looked comfortable and strong there tonight. Maybe CNK at centre could sure up some edge defence issues?Danaman137 wrote:Glad to see Stick own his selection mistake in the presser. Hopefully some are held accountable in selection this week.

Re: 2020 Rd 7 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews
The main problem is Hodgson. Drop him and watch the team change and play differently. Do you think Wighton is happy sitting on the opposition 20 and not getting the ball because Hodgson does 3-4 crash plays.
It’s no coincidence the team went one game short of a grand final last year and started winning matches when Hodgson went down.
Starling to start, Hodgson on the bench until he learns

Re: 2020 Rd 7 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews
Young needs to go back to the bench. He's to much of a liability in defense to be playing the full 80.

Blind Freddy can see those changes need to happen. Ricky however, would refuse to concede to Blind Freddy in a staring competition.Mickey_Raider wrote: ↑April 17, 2021, 10:42 pm I’ll just restate my post from the Parra preview thread :

Think everyone is forgetting Ryan James...
Let's be real, Croker won't be dropped, so here is my preferred team with Croker in it:
1. Aekins
2. Valemei
3. Croker
4. Scott (because I want Kris on the bench as cover. Also let's give Scott a little bit of credit, he was fantastic the first two games and has just come back from injury, he gets one more chance)
5. Rapana (you can't fault his effort, he comes up with boneheaded plays but he is always at 110%)
6. Wighton
7. Williams
8. Papalii
9. Hodgson
10. Sutton
11. CHN
12. Whitehead
13. Tapine
14. Kris
15. Young
16. Guler
17. James
18. Horse
No need to carry Starling as Ricky barely used him and Kris is a more versatile 14. No need for Havili as we have better middles and edge on the bench now with Young on the bench. Just have to hope Hodgo can go 80 and stop overplaying his hand.

I said it before the Eels game, but I really don’t see us winning too much without CNK, or at least struggling heavily and last night proved that theory to a tee. We’re now something like 60-12 down since he went off injured.
Cowboys game looming as a massive upset here.

Re: 2020 Rd 7 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews
There will be minimal changes this week. James comes back in and we need a more versatile bench (CHN and/or Kris as a minimum).
The mood from Sticky's presser is the players are on notice to lift. Any kind of repeat this week and we'll see a lot more changes.

Scott was not fantastic first two weeks. He was reasonable. Fantastic is Bradman Best, Matt Burton etc. I think he's a tad below HSS, Timoko on the admittedly little I saw of them

He was fantastic compared to his first few games for the Raiders.Canberra Milk wrote: ↑April 18, 2021, 10:00 am Scott was not fantastic first two weeks. He was reasonable. Fantastic is Bradman Best, Matt Burton etc. I think he's a tad below HSS, Timoko on the admittedly little I saw of them

I can't tell if this is a stitch up or you actually believe it.The Nickman wrote: ↑April 18, 2021, 9:52 am I said it before the Eels game, but I really don’t see us winning too much without CNK, or at least struggling heavily and last night proved that theory to a tee. We’re now something like 60-12 down since he went off injured.
Cowboys game looming as a massive upset here.
We were outclassed by Penrith and Parra and CNK wasn't going to make a shred of difference. In fact, most people agreed Aekin did very well for his debut.
When CNK returns, he should play with the either the No.1 or No. 3 on his back....if were serious.
He's definitely in our starting side, but not the reason we look insipid at the moment.

I think you'll see Papalii and HOGson start off the bench vs Cowboys
