To still leave Croker in the side, whilst dropping Tapine, Scott, Young, Hodgson (if not injured), would also send a bad message to the side.

He should drop both centres but if he drops one it'll be Scott. Hope it's Croker though

Don't think we've got enough backs to drop one outright unfortunately. Total of five injured and Hopoate can't play.

Is Hodgson really on the nose on the GH?

I think a stern word from the coach to limit the Robbie Farah impersonations coupled with cutting down his minutes slightly to give Starling more time and Hodgson is still an asset, and one of the top hookers in the word.

Thoughts?

Valemei is injured too...

So...

1. Akein
2. ?
3. Kris
4.?
5. Rapana

Maybe Timoko in the centres and one of Croker/Scott to "survive"..

As a reference point, Cotric played all his junior footy at centre and fullback. Much better winger at NRL level.
Is this really what we're going on? It worked for an extremely exceptional young talent who is not only a superior athlete but is also good in the air? As reference points go that's a poor one.
Its a valid reference point. A kid who played all his junior footy at centre and barely any first grade didn't need to play in the position he knows.

TV coverage: Fox League Channel 502
Radio: ABC, Mix 106.3, 2CC

The Canberra Raiders have named their squad for Saturday nights match against the North Queensland Cowboys at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville.

Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart has made a number of changes to the side following injury and back to back losses against the Panthers and Eels.

Josh Hodgson has been ruled out for 2-3 weeks with a calf injury, which sees Tom Starling named to start the match at hooker.

With Hodgson ruled out Elliott Whitehead has been named as captain this weekend alongside Jarrod Croker.

VIDEO: Whitehead: We've had our review and we want to put it right: https://www.raiders.com.au/news/2021/04 ... -it-right/

VIDEO: Sutton: I'll play anywhere I'm required: https://www.raiders.com.au/news/2021/04 ... -required/

Sebastian Kris returns to the side on the wing this weekend, with Bailey Simonsson ruled out following a concussion last weekend.

Ryan James returns to the side in the front row after missing last weekend's match, with Josh Papalii moving to the bench. Ryan Sutton will start the match at lock and Emre Guler at prop with Joe Tapine dropping out of the 17 and onto the extended bench.

Corey Harawira-Naera and Corey Horsburgh have been named in the 17 for the first time this season on the interchange bench, with Sia Soliola moving into the extended squad.

In some good news today, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad will not require surgery on his neck and will be assessed weekly to see when he could make a return.

I agree. But that’s not how he’s been playing and historically he hasn’t been able to relinquish control of the team. Even when it’s detrimental

I don't think he should be dropped but his game time limited by Starling and Stuart tells our halves to run the show like last year. But note the comment by NRL360 panellists last night and the foxsports article. Again, this is Stuart telling the halves this is their team and not Josh's.

100% Starling should be starting games if we want our halves to control the match...
Hodgo can come in and play middle / hooker or first receiver.

Still a class player who we need to help take us to the next level.

Needs an honesty session or two with Stuart and Ennis about his role in the attacking half, which needs to be reduced and simplified. Think clear markers and guidelines need to be set for him so that he has something to work towards.

I think it may be Croker..
Also to explain that Hodgo is 'injured'...

That would mean a new captain named too....Wighton?

100% safe.
Sam Williams is injured and if we want our regular halves to form a combo without Hodgo, now is the time to do it.

I think if he can't adjust his style, it might be easier to play him off the bench.
He's a quality player no question....but our halves need earlier ball.
