Four Canberra Raiders named in 35 man England squad, in preparation for 2021 Rugby League World Cup

England Head Coach Shaun Wane has named a 35-strong squad ahead of next Tuesday’s (13 April) training session at Leeds Beckett University – and precisely 200 days before England kick off RLWC2021 against Samoa at St James’s Park, Newcastle, on Saturday 23 October.

Four Canberra Raiders players have been included: Josh Hodgson, Ryan Sutton, Elliott Whitehead and George Williams.

John Bateman (Wigan Warriors), Tom Burgess (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Daryl Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie (all Warrington Wolves), Niall Evalds (Castleford Tigers), Herbie Farnworth (Brisbane Broncos), Liam Farrell (Wigan Warriors), Luke Gale (Leeds Rhinos), Oliver Gildart (Wigan Warriors), Josh Griffin (Hull FC), Ash Handley (Leeds Rhinos), Zak Hardaker (Wigan Warriors), Josh Hodgson (Canberra Raiders), Tom Johnstone (Wakefield Trinity), Toby King (Warrington Wolves), Morgan Knowles, Jonny Lomax (both St Helens), Jermaine McGillvary (Huddersfield Giants), Paul McShane (Castleford Tigers), Tommy Makinson (St Helens), Dom Manfredi (Wigan Warriors), Harry Newman (Leeds Rhinos), Mark Percival (St Helens), Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford (both Warrington Wolves), James Roby (St Helens), Dan Sarginson (Salford Red Devils), Ryan Sutton (Canberra Raiders), Luke Thompson (Canterbury Bulldogs), Sam Tomkins (Catalans Dragons), Alex Walmsley (St Helens), Kallum Watkins (Salford Red Devils), Elliott Whitehead, George Williams (both Canberra Raiders).

Good. Wonder if they'll pick Sutton.

Weirdly Hodgo has done sweet FA in an England jersey, Roby looks the more likely every time I've seen them play international footy. Might be part of the reason Wane isn't automatically set on NRL stars being great internationals.

That squad looks bloody old. Not too many new faces there. Everyone gets a run!

No. Handley of Leeds is in.

Hanley of Wigan, son of Ellery, hasn't.

I'm not confident this will even go ahead tbh

And as hard as it would be for them, I would prefer none of the boys go over to the uk

Raiders players' game commitments will be done and they should be over the hangovers from winning the GF. Let them go and spend time with families and friends. It will do their mental health the world of good.

I just hope they're all injury-free before and after the series.

I would love them to spend time with their families, and agree about the mental health aspect
I just worry about the impact of 2 weeks quarantine ( no way that will finish by then) and the risk of them getting covid in the uk.

My brother lives over there, 1 in every 5 people have had it, including him.
Not sure the risk is worth it sadly

Heaps old. Older than the Roosters.

Put it this way, the coach will want to win with that squad sooner rather than later.

Not top 4 material IMO.

Sorry to see about your brother. However, I think they'll put up with two weeks quarantine for the chance to reunite.
