You do have to wonder what Simonsson is offering atm. With Croker coming back, his position has to be under the microscope.

Yes, you need to be able to score at least 18 points a game

Not in the regular season but come the finals, we're going to need to be able to score 4 tries fairly reliably. That's the challenge ahead of this team

12-10.
We're on the right side of the scoreboard.
End of the year we see two points banked.
That's what's important.

Not keen to pin a close WIN on anyone.
The outside backs did well bringing the ball back in the first half.

Lots of errors from many players in the 2nd half.

Rain brought us to Cronulla's level.
They thrive on this kind of game.

Helped that Chad missed all those kicks.
One should have been kicked.
The other two you'd expect good kickers to get them.

He's not having much of an effect in that stint either. Distinctly below our other middles

Frustrating to watch on a bludger of a day. Then I flicked across to the NRL Website to check the ladder and as bad as the last 40 minutes were I found us sitting undefeated in 3rd spot. Life is not bad.

That's all well and good but neither Guler or Hors give us the balance of an edge which is sorely needed. We're too middle heavy. If Croker comes in and Kris fills that role on the bench sure. But we do need an edge capable player on the bench

Guler and Horse in reserve grade. Hard keeping those guys back if Lui isn't contributing. CHN will replace Havili I reckon.

It was a win and a good first half. Pretty rubbish 2nd half. But not so long ago we would have found a way to lose that game. Move on, get better.

Scrappy performance but a win is a win.

Forwards won the game and the spine was very quiet. Two games where we haven't played as well as we could and two wins isn't a bad sign for all that, but improvements really needed.

Take the points and look to improve next week.

Looking for improvement today.
After the fact, I don't think it improved.

I think GWilly wa actually fantastic in r1 and don't know what more he could have done r1.

R2 we were poor among all 3 kickers.

I actually hate when Hodgo kicks medium/long- he has basic technique flaw where his hands swing the ball across his body instead of setting it still/in line and it's why he slices or floats it high in 2 out of 3 long kicks. He's never corrected it.

That's an aside as neither GWilly or Wighton were on the mark in the wet today, where it really counts.

I thought Lui did the job he was asked to do in his 20 minute stint. No errors, be strong in defence, slowed down the ruck, don’t give away penalties and take some hit ups. That’s his role.

But there’s certainly people knocking on the door. Interesting if we will start rotating some of our forwards, thought our forwards other than Tapine all looked slow in that 25. But that’s on key errors by our backs. Wighton had a particularly poor game.

That's the thing. We had that game entirely under control to the 44 minute mark and then imploded for the next 25 odd minutes.

44th minute Wighton knocks on.
47th minute Wighton knocks on (1st tackle).
49th minute Wighton bad pass, Rapana tackled into touch (3rd tackle).
51st minute CNK drops uncontested bomb.
55th minute Cronulla score after 2 repeat sets.
58th minute Rapana knocks the ball out of Whitehead's hands (2nd tackle).
63rd minute Simonsson knocks on (2nd tackle).
64th minute Rudolf pulls a cheap penalty from Young. Townsend actually kicks the goal.
67th minute Young gives away a penalty after the restart (4th tackle).
69th minute Hodgson finds touch 25m out on the 3rd tackle.
72nd minute things blow up and Scott gives away a penalty

I’m not understanding the Lui or Havilli selections at the moment.
Starling and you would think Guler would be better options.
Our spine was clueless today... it was like nobody wanted to lead.
Happy for James... he’s had another great game...I thought SIA and Sutton were great too...
I guess this is the closest to feeling like you lost without actually losing...

MATCH REPORT: Canberra Raiders hold on to drown Cronulla Sharks

Talk about a heart-stopper. If it wasn't for Chad Townsend's wayward kicking from the tee, the Canberra Raiders wouldn't have made it five wins in a row against Cronulla. They held on by their fingernails to remain unbeaten in the 2021 NRL season, winning 12-10 over the Sharks at a wet Kogarah Park on Sunday.

CANBERRA RAIDERS 12 (Sebastian Kris, Hudson Young tries; George Williams 2 goals) defeated CRONULLA SHARKS 10 (William Kennedy, Josh Dugan tries; Chad Townsend goal) at Kogarah Park. Referee: Chris Sutton. Crowd: 3145.

Raiders lose cool at Kogarah but cling on for narrow win

The Canberra Raiders were almost perfect in the first 40 minutes against Cronulla on Sunday night, completing at roughly 90 per cent and taking a deserved 12-0 lead into the break. Cronulla turned the match on a superb piece of play when Chad Townsend grubbered through for the impressive William Kennedy.

Yeah, not really a problem with our middles. Ball security and a lack of discipline got us in the end.

We went away from basics after Wighton imploded early in the 2nd half.

I just watched the game delayed as live. Haven’t read anything and I think I’ll avoid it.

Guler needs to play in place of Soliola or Sutton. An edge needs to be on the bench.

I won’t pay the boot in anywhere. But I think this team/squad is strong enough to **** it into the top 4 despite that game. I’m deeply concerned about George Williams though. Outside of his good short kicking and defense I have nothing but concern.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
