Hudson Young got the three points playing out of position? Interesting.

He goes alright. The Nickman wrote: ↑March 15, 2021, 10:04 am Hudson Young got the three points playing out of position? Interesting.
I thought he and Williams did a great job on Leilua jr and he still had the energy to make a couple of tough outside-in runs. Unlike Leilua, he just got better and better as the game went on. Good signs.

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
That defense late in the game was very impressive. We just kept coming.
Tigers attacking our line but looking like they were on the back foot.
Still work to do in attack with timing and lines. Looks very dangerous when he drifts into the middle.

Defensively he was excellentThe Nickman wrote: ↑March 15, 2021, 10:04 am Hudson Young got the three points playing out of position? Interesting.
35 tackles, 1 miss and held the Tigers best play at bay all game. It was a huge reason why we went into the break with the score line we did.
He got 2 points from me but I've got no qualms about him getting 3.
He's a substantially better middle than edge with ball in hand. That was confirmed again in the game yesterday.
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
If only Hudson could score tries...
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
Agree. Defensively very solid, as he has been pretty much anytime I've seen him play there.Botman wrote: ↑March 15, 2021, 1:24 pmDefensively he was excellentThe Nickman wrote: ↑March 15, 2021, 10:04 am Hudson Young got the three points playing out of position? Interesting.

In attack, almost anything good he did came in middle third. I think once CHN becomes available again natural order will take course, particular given his ability to attack space and run lines. George badly needs someone to give the ball to on that right.
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
I appreciate that some posters have made this claim that he is so much better in the middle than the edge but he was playing on the edge yesterday and he played very well. It's really unnecessary to try and twist it into a 'the good things he did was through the middle' narrative.
Like I said last year, maybe it just took him a few games to feel comfortable in the nrl, regardless of position. I admit I got him wrong - as a lot of us did after the eye gouging.

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
I think he can get better out wide, so I’m happy for him to learn his trade on the edge.
He’s heading in the right direction and hopefully he can further develop his passing game and support play.
He’s a good middle, but we have plenty of good middles.

I think Billy Moore botched up the order of his votes and meant Tedesco as number 1 player rather than 1 point.

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
Bit harsh to give all six points to raiders in a close game like that IMO
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
How did Ryan James miss out on points? Good to see Hudson Young leading the way, despite being forced to play out of position.
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
Papalii? Love the guy but he wasn't in our top 5, let alone top 3

Yeah James > Papa for sure.
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
That’s the problem with the dally m
Like what game is Ikin watching there? Absolutely no one would argue Papalii over James in that game
These judges honestly just give points to big name players

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
the issue is that ikin would be one of the few id normally trust to get a vote right

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
As many of us have commented the entire Dally M system is flawed.
I’d rather see a range of 3,2,1s from multiple media sources and then the Daily Telegraph can rank any ties into the final score. The main player of the year award for any sport shouldn’t be owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Did he watch the game or keep tabs via Fox Sports stats?

It is owned by the NRL now. That's why all the points are now transparently published on NRL.com.BJ wrote: ↑March 22, 2021, 10:02 am As many of us have commented the entire Dally M system is flawed.

The judges are required to watch, but after last year they no longer have to be at the game.Northern Raider wrote: ↑March 22, 2021, 10:06 amDid he watch the game or keep tabs via Fox Sports stats?

Must have been watching via Kayo on his phone while out at dinner. Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
Stupid. The whole system's **** stupid.
You just know if Corey Parker had been doing our game he would've somehow found a way to give a point to a Broncos player.
Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders Dally M Medal points
We should get 5-8 people together and run our own Greenhouse NRL wide system one year
I bet ours would compare very favourable to the actual dally m’s

Seems to be some outcry: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 48bab90189
Who on earth decided Sam Thaiday was a qualified judge of the Dally M Award?

None of these ex-Broncos guys like Thaiday or Hodges or Corey **** Parker seem remotely competent to do the Dally M's after a game.greeneyed wrote: ↑March 22, 2021, 11:53 amSeems to be some outcry: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 48bab90189

Actually, most judges stink at times, we've seen Greg Alexander and now Ben Ikin also come up with absolute head scratchers.

"While voting will always be a subjective process, an overhaul of the Dally M system has been floated before by Peter V’landys.
Last year he suggested every player be ranked out of 10 for every game before adding up those points to determine the Dally M medallist.
He said at the time that it would address players who are in a strong team where multiple stars are competing for points."
**** I love him.

Early on she had the highest profile of all the women NRL players, mainly because of the family recognition. That was a long time ago and surely they can come up with a better option now.

Sports media "personalities" are never hired for their talent - it is all about jobs for the boys (or in this case girls)Northern Raider wrote:Early on she had the highest profile of all the women NRL players, mainly because of the family recognition. Just do it as fans choice and be done with it. Log on to NRL.com after games and give all 34 players a vote out of 10The Nickman wrote:Sounds like V'Landys is onto it already though...greeneyed wrote: ↑March 22, 2021, 11:53 amSeems to be some outcry: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 48bab90189
