Re: 2020 Rd 2 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
Our middle defence is very strong.
So if we make our entire team out of middles, then technically our middle defence will be across the whole field, so we will be unpenetrable.
1. Guler (He'll have strong runs from kick returns)
2. Rushton (Rush means fast. Wingers are fast)
3. Horse (Horses love space to gallop)
4. CHN (One in from his usual second row position)
5. Starling (He's fast)
I can't see this strategy failing whatsoever.

Agree. Lui only had 17 mins so the forwards have plenty of petrol in the tank!GreenMachine wrote:I can’t see Ricky changing the team, which is fair enough.
However I do think our bench should have Starling for variation.
The guys on the outside will have to earn the call up, unless there are injuries or Ricky is planning to play on rotation.

My Middle 13 would be as follows for me... and im counting hookers god dammit, because one we need it, and two they pack into the scrum! They're middle players!
1. Starling: Quick, nippy, little short area speed, reads the game well. Best of a bad situation
2. Guler: Mobile, good height, little bit of toe. It's as good as it gets
3. Sia: Guess he played there before, as good a shout as any
4. Papalii: He played most of his career only one spot inwards.
5. Young: Probably the quickest and most suited to try his hand here
6. Tapine: Just get him to run and offload
7. Hodgson: The only guy you could trust to actually run a footy team
8. Lui: He can play his natural spot
9. Havilii: Easy pickings, only one left and natural position
10. Horsborgh: Playing his natural position.
11. James: Another who's played wide
12. CHN: Natural edge who's played some middle
13. Sutton: Easy selection, will kill it

This 17 middles team could be the greatest innovation in Rugby League strategy since Dally Messenger invented the long pass.

Gee I can only imagine how much Jarrod Croker is jumping out of his skin to play. I missed the game on Sunday and I am desperate to be back this week and I don't even play!!
Planning to make up for it this weekend by attending 4 NRL, 3 NSW Cup and a Jersey Flegg match in Sydney over the weekend. Getting in training for Magic Round!
Hopefully a golf tournament too if Sydney is not under water.

Side was never gonna change after a win, so zero surprise with the team. If we play anywhere close to our ability then we'll take this out comfortably, especially with no Johnson and Ramien.
Getting off to a good start is absolutely imperative here. We've got three very winnable games before we meet the Panthers. Win them, as I expect us to do, and that's our season pretty much setup.

Every game we play we always allow the opposition early field possession.
Against the top teams it could mean the difference between a win and a loss.
Line speed was better in the second half, but again, we were playing Wests not Easts.
WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT'S BEEN

Refreshed Raider Ryan Sutton hoping 2021 will prove third time lucky in quest for finals football
Luckless Englishman Ryan Sutton hopes an off-season trip to the Whitsundays will provide a change of fortunes in 2021 as he looks to play finals football in his third season at the club.
"This is the only year I've had where I switched off from rugby. Me and my girlfriend went away in Australia, we couldn't' go anywhere else so we went up to the Whitsundays and just switched off. I've come back this year into the preseason probably in the best condition I've been in in a long time."

New rules, new role a work in progress for Ryan James
When Ryan James talks about changes in the game between his second last and most-recent NRL starts, you know he’s harkening back to an almost bygone era. He also finds the new review process confusing.
"It was a little bit weird, to think you’ve scored a try and you go back to half-way and then a minute or two later you’re back down there tackling, it’s weird. Gives us a longer break but I think they’re trying to speed the game up so it’s just one of those things that felt like it made it longer."
