Yeah fair enoughBotman wrote: ↑May 14, 2021, 3:49 pmHoy's still young. Maybe he can do it. But im with NR. A lot of hype but little to show for it in FG so far.
Hynes, in a good team or not, we've seen him ball play at an extremely high level. Is he going to be that effective in a team that isn't as good as Melbourne? Probably not. But at least we've seen something from him that theoretically he can add to us. I havent seen that with Hoy.
If im replacing CNK at fullback, and assuming the replacement isnt a do it all established star i want to do be one of those archetypes
1) A guy with excellent speed, noted support player and above average ball playing for the position, the sacrifice there is likely not as stout defensively. I.E Duffty
2) A guy who's going to give us most of what CNK does defensively, but with significant upgrades as a ball player. Speed and elite footwork being the sacrifice. I.E Hynes

Was re-signed yesterday
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
I think a few things have shown recently not to jump early on mediocre players. Cowboys with both Townsend and Dearden is a good example.
If you're talking future fullbacks I think Manu is one of the best gambles. Roosters wouldn't be able to compete with fullback money. Think he ends next season though.

well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
Sign and agitate is a common modern tactic. Succesful often enough. It also at the very least provides some certainty moving forward to base further roster moves around rather than just signing only that season and hoping to juggle it all.julian87 wrote: ↑May 15, 2021, 12:30 pm I think a few things have shown recently not to jump early on mediocre players. Dufty can ball play - watch him as well. Beautiful left to right Ricky Stuart long pass
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
There's going to be an awful lot of players sent off this year at this rate. Of course, the NRL won't keep on with the policy.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
Hynes answers back with his own very delightful albeit not as impressive ball playing
I don’t care which one, but we need one of these guys
Move CNK to centre or wing.

Hopefully Ricky is paying attention
Get on the phone to both these fellas and take the first one to say yes

That's exactly how high level speed aides someone in ball playing. They're constantly worried about his running threat as soon as he looks to isolate defenders out on the edge
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
If we had the ability to do, I really think I’d try and get both
With Dufty’s level of ball playing I think you could effectively run Wighton and Hynes in the halves which sort of suits Ricky’s style

We’d likely have to shed a promising forward or two but I’d explore it.Botman wrote:If we had the ability to do, I really think I’d try and get both

**** 'em. We've got plenty. They're a dime a dozen and grow on most trees as far as I'm concerned.Danaman137 wrote: ↑May 16, 2021, 5:00 pmWe’d likely have to shed a promising forward or two but I’d explore it.Botman wrote:If we had the ability to do, I really think I’d try and get both

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
With George gone and potentially Hodgson and the Croker situations to be sorted, the money could be there for two fairly substantial signings
No idea if those guys would want to come here and how they feel about Ricky

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
I can see it working.
Nico's a guy who can play at the line. He's got nice soft hands, can deliver a ball both ways, short and long. Seems to sum up numbers very well. His support play looks a drop below though, and he's not particular quick, as evident by that last break of his.
Dufty is dynamite as soon as they isolate defenders and he swoops around. His ball playing is good enough to create the try for someone else if he doesn't score in the positions he usually gets it in.

Yep. It's one thing creating cap space to fit players in. It's another to convince them to take your offer over others.

Would be incredible to get them both
I’d be pumped to get either of them.
And I’m going to be devastated when we get neither

Have we actually been linked to anyone at all? I never hear the Raiders mentioned in any conversation.

I thought we’d be able to get Hynes for 500k about a week ago. Price just went up to atleast 650k, probably 700k... and i still want to pay it.
