Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving

Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
We are a Corey free zone in Rd1. Here's hoping the message is loud and clear to all players in the squad.
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
The coach has handled that well. And it's exactly how it should be.
As we've discussed all off season, the Raiders forward pack is seriously overcrowded... these boys put themselves on the outside looking in and its now up to them to put in the work to earn a spot back... and hope others under perform to open a spot up.
I think if we want to achieve what we aim to do this season, both players will need to be involved in that... but now the door is wide open for others to show they can fill that role. We'll see if those players are up to it
We're going to find out very early on if Hudson Young is able to impact games on the edge, i suspect he's going to get at least a month of footy to show it.

They would. Its just those two would have a much easier time winning their spot backThe Nickman wrote: ↑February 11, 2021, 3:16 pm And I'm sure he'd take exactly the same stance if it were Josh Papalii and Jack Wighton who blew over.

Fact is, CHN and Hors were already battling it out for a spot in the 17. Stuart making it publicly known that they've done their chances a disservice and have to fight their way back into the team is hardly preferential treatment.
Back in the day Stuart made it known that Papa was dropped for being unfit and he had to fight his way back into the team. How is that any different?

Josh was unfit and needed to fight his way back into the team, that's why. Not even remotely what I'm saying.
Ugh, just let it go, you're essentially arguing for the hell of it now.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Yeah it's no biggie. I just assume you're saying that Papalii and Wighton would get some sort of preferential treatment if they got done DUI. Fair enough. The Nickman wrote: ↑February 12, 2021, 11:12 am Josh was unfit and needed to fight his way back into the team, that's why. Not even remotely what I'm saying.

Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
Am I missing something. Don’t we have a real world scenario for these two ?
Didn’t the Raiders impose their own 6 week ban for Wighton and for Papa a 1 week ban for his self reported DUI.

Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
I think the issue is about the coach telling the other two they need to fight their way back into the team.
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
But that’s what Wighton did to get in trouble in the first place.Seiffert82 wrote:I think the issue is about the coach telling the other two they need to fight their way back into the team.

Haha, good point. Maybe Papa was told that in the offseason, hence the bout with Hannant.

Yup, that was exactly my point. The coach came out and said both players had lost their spot in the squad and needed to fight there way back inSeiffert82 wrote:I think the issue is about the coach telling the other two they need to fight their way back into the team.
I said he wouldn’t have done that if it were Wighton or Papalii (and both have past discretions that prove this point), but for some reason the fact they both got suspended and missed games seems to negate my point in some people’s mind

Yep, fair enough. I just reckon it was a throwaway line for the public. The Nickman wrote: ↑February 14, 2021, 9:24 pmYup, that was exactly my point. Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
Yeah, you’re probably right, although with the forward depth we currently have, it’s not inconceivable these two blokes both have to make their way back through reggies.
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
I think you're both right, it's a lot easier to throw the line out when it's 2 guys on the borderline and you are confident the senior guys are on the culture with the coach under very little pressure. The Nickman wrote:Yeah, you’re probably right, although with the forward depth we currently have, it’s not inconceivable these two blokes both have to make their way back through reggies.
When Papa got sent back to reserves we were battling and you can see how Jack responded after his drama so easy to say he fought his way back through his off field rather than reserve grade.

Fingers crossed that’s the case. Losing games and shaking things up is where I want the Broncos to be!

Canberra Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh: "What I did was wrong"
Corey Horsburgh had 10 or 11 alcoholic drinks before getting behind the wheel over the legal limit early on Christmas morning. The magistrate today imposed a criminal conviction, $500 fine and three-month driver's licence disqualification, after Horsburgh pleaded guilty.
"What I did was wrong. I'm disappointed I let the club down, and my family. Not the right decision. I'm just glad it's all done and just looking forward to playing some football now."

So it was a morning after scenario for Horse?

Yeah got that one PJ, I was thinking since the drink driving episode.
Am happy he hadn't opened up with an Uzi in Belconnen mall food court to be honest, Ricky wouldn't look at that kindly
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
Not indicating at an Evatt roundabout. I’ve never seen anyone indicate at a Belco roundabout.
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
He must have started and stopped early on Christmas Eve if he had 10 or 11 drinks, but then got caught just over the limit at 1.16am. I thought it might have been 11.16am but the fox sports article says early hours of the morning.
Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
Fortunately I don't have experience in these things, but 3 months licence suspension for such a low range - is that normal?
When I see that RBT TV show occasionally, the ones just over often get a fine but no licence suspension.

Re: Harawira-Naera and Horsburgh charged with drink driving
It mustn't be his first offence. .05 to .08 is normally 2 months for first offence, 3 months for repeat offence.
