Looking at the card I think Junior Paulo vs Lote Tuquiri is a great match up.

They fought when Paulo was at the Raiders with the majority of this site getting ultra salty when Gallen beat him.

Not a chance. Would be around at least 130kg

Papa also definitely isn't around the 112kg or whatever he's listed at. That's the same weight he'd go by when he was a relatively slim second rower. I'd have him roughly at 120kgs

And I assume Thaiday won't actually be boxing, he'll run in on someone else's fight 15 seconds after the bell rang.

He'd be pretty hard to land one on, elusive little bloke.

I do recall in the 80s though that Chicka was bar during fights. No one ever went near him, not because they were afraid I am sure, just because it was Chicka and who wants to hit Chicka?

Reminds me of the fight in the 1981 semi-final between Manly and Newtown where Randall and Bowden got sent off. I think it was pretty much a 2 minute all-in brawl, involving everyone on both teams except for Chicka.

How backyard fight club fuelled NRL star's boxing passion

Growing up in Logan, Queensland, little Josh Papalii would regularly join up to 16 cousins for backyard boxing matches where those nearest in age would don gloves and throw down.

“Entertainment for the oldies,” Papalii said. “The whole backyard was the ring. So you just had to get in there and do your best. I had a real sensitive nose. So when my cousins would hit me, yeah, it would still be bleeding the next day. After Christmas, I’ll be heading up to train with [cousin] Alex [Leapai].

Josh Papalii to meet Ben Hannant in Rugby League Rivals boxing clash

Ben Hannant will face Canberra Raiders prop Josh Papalii in the Rugby League Rivals fight night in Townsville on February 12.

It was originally planned that Papalii would meet Melbourne Storm forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona, but Asofa-Solomona pulled out in December. The All Stars Boxing promoters have been searching for a replacement and have finally found their man.

Hannant, 36, played 245 NRL matches for the Roosters, Broncos, Bulldogs and Cowboys in a career that lasted over a decade. The former prop also played 12 Origin matches for the Maroons and six Tests for Australia. He retired from NRL football at the end of 2016 and is now an announcer on Gold Coast radio.

Hannant reportedly now has "four weeks to learn how to box".

A report for The Greenhouse

Cowboys premiership winner Ben Hannant to take on Josh Papalii in All Stars Rugby League Rivals

The only time 36-year-old Ben Hannant can recall being in a fight was in Grade 9, so it will be a different experience getting into the ring with Queensland Origin hero Josh Papalii in a colossal clash at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre in February.

“Taking on Josh Papalii is a huge task, it is scary and with eight kids it’s trying to teach them in life things will scare them but they can tackle it and you get the rewards on the back of it,” Hannant said.

Yeah, you could teach your kids that. Or you could teach them to be smart enough to not take on papalii

A spokesman for Tobin Brothers Funerals said “we believe this sponsorship will provide us with an excellent showcase of our services and experience in dealing with unfortunate deaths”.

Canberra Raiders star Josh Papalii to fight Ben Hannant at All Stars rugby league fight night

Ben Hannant wants to teach his eight kids things in life will scare them but they have what it takes to overcome those obstacles. That's why he is preparing to step into the ring against Josh Papalii.

"It's something I've wanted to do for a while, I just couldn't find the time to get the training and all that done, and then obviously the fight night as well," Papalii said.
