Good signs from Hodgo in the red zone so far. Giving good ball to the halves

16th min Great run Rapana, but it’s ruled he spilled in the tackle.

Good run but jeez - Raps has definitely lost a lot of speed.

Rapana was looking fantastic, and then dropped the ball. Still a good return to form in his movement at least. He was really missing that step last year.

I reckon Kris could be a smokey for the no.4 jersey from what I'm seeing from him. Physical and gives the backline the metres it needs out of our own end.

That first twenty is what you want to see overall, some brilliance with some expected rust and missing polish. Williams didn't a nice first chance at kicking but it wasn't far off from what we could see on this camera angle.

Disappointing we let in the first try but that was most of last season :P

Everyone out there was looking good for a first run.

Biggest issue so far for me is the same one we had all last year, we let them make metres at will. Each run with very few exceptions gets them ten metres.

That and the refs don't seem to remember the 20 minute drinks.... Refs this year aren't going to be an improvement.

Great lead up runs by Kris and CNK then a Hodgson goal line face ball for Tapine to crash over.

22nd min TRY RAIDERS to Joe Tapine near the posts. Good runs from Kris and CNK in the lead up. The left side attack looking good. Williams converts from in front.

Don't think we've got any room for Tom Starling on the bench here, fellas.

Josh Hodgson in this kind of form doesn't come off or play any other position I'm afraid.

The result is whatever at this stage. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing in terms of the fitness and form of our forward pack. Nobody came back fat, that's for sure.

I'm attacking in the right way, instead of just...attacking in the general direction. - Max Aaron (also eerily apropos for the Green Machine)

Tapine is looking great out there with some of these runs and tackles. He should have #13 locked in for the whole season playing like that.

Starling is a great utility though, he can easily handle 2nd row so it's a battle between him and Havili but one of them will be there.

Agreed, it looks like we're about to find out exactly how much of an impact the events of last year had on his season and what he can do without that hanging over him.

......... you think Tom Starling can play second row.

170cm, 80 something kg Tom Starling.

We are still having trouble finding the holes with our chip kicks. Really need to be practicing that as we can't keep getting down there and just handing it over cheaply. Repeat sets we were weak with most of 2019 and the start of 2020. Seems whatever we learnt at the tail end of 2020 we have forgotten in the offseason :(

32nd min TRY RAIDERS to Jack Wighton, he dummies and stumbles over the line! George Williams converts from in front.

If I've got any criticism it's the kicking game and we are giving up yards at time

Very promising so far tbh outside of that
