The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker still hopeful of return from shoulder surgery in Round 1
Canberra Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker could get the all clear to play in Round 1 on Monday after he sees a specialist about his recovery from shoulder surgery.
"I don't know, I'll know more Monday after he visits the specialist to let us know exactly where he is physically with his shoulder, but he's improving each week," coach Ricky Stuart said. "Jarrod's hopeful and I'll give him every opportunity to play because he deserves that respect.

Man, that makes us a very old team.
Perhaps too old.

Re: Jarrod Croker could get all clear for Round 1 after shoulder surgery
Stoked that Toots could make a speedy recovery, really want him to regain his form this year and we’ll need his goal kicking. But id be lying if I said I didn’t want to see one of Timoko or HSS in that left centre spot for a few weeks just to see how they’re progressing. I guess NSW cup will do, now that they’re broadcasting most games on Facebook.

I'd really like to see Timoko up against BJ and ramien in the first two games. Not great matchups for croker

He handled BJ well last year, and I'm pretty sure Ramien carved up Wighton rather than Croker

It's just a typical nothing comment.
Re: Jarrod Croker could get all clear for Round 1 after shoulder surgery
two strong ball runners that want to run through you instead of around. Players will always say they are good to play but I don't think it's worth the risk in round one after a serious injury.

Stat Attack: The oldest and youngest teams in 2020
The Sydney Roosters ended the 2020 season as the NRL's oldest squad while last-placed Brisbane were the youngest.
The Tricolours, who fell short of a premiership three-peat when they were knocked out in the second week of the finals by Canberra, had an average age of 27.2 at the conclusion of the 2020 campaign.

Interesting that our Round 1 team in 2021 currently has an average age of 27.2, which would have been 27.7 if Croker was passed fit.
As mentioned earlier. Now is our window.

And if made a few adjustments and lined up like this
CNK
Simonsson
Croker
Timoko
Valemei
Wighton
G Williams
Papalii
Hodgson
Guler
Harawira-Naera
Whitehead
Tapine
Havili
Kris
Sutton
Young
Which pending on the development of Valemei in Reggies is actually a better and more balanced side IMO, the average age of the team goes down to 25.6 years - roughly the average age of our squad, which has been calculated to be only the 10th oldest in the comp.
See how that works?. You don't just pick a team in any given moment of time to try make a point about how our team is supposedly old, when it just so happens that the team named is more geared towards your older players.
Teams have squads for a reason - absolutely nothing to see here or worry about.
