Your predicted Canberra Raiders team for next year?

Post by Green_Hammock »

To get my mind off the loss, how does everyone think we will run out next year?

1. CNK
2. Rapana
3. Croker
4. Timoko
5. Simonnson
6. Wighton
7. Williams
8. Papalii
9. Hodgson
10. Horsburgh
11. Haraweira-Neira
12. Whitehead
13. Tapine

14. Starling
15. Lui
16. Sutton/Guler
17. Young

18. Soliola
19. Havilli

Pretty hard to determine which forwards miss out.

I think there might be an unexpected departure or two - especially in the forwards.

No other explanation for carrying so many options.

Hopefully Mounties run around next year, Croker can bring his strong leadership qualities and his goal kicking to them for a NSW Cup tilt

I agree.
I’ll tell you who has looked a little out of sorts at the back end of this season...Whitehead.

Agree on Whitehead, that drop against Cronulla coming off our line was a real stinker and each game he’s thrown up a really bad error.

Just seems off

If Matt Timoko doesn't start the season at right centre, then Sticky deserves to be fired out of a cannon back to Queanbeyan.

He's the one guy who has any sort of speed or threat about him in our outside back depth.

We'll see. I liked what I've seen from Timoko. Sample size to small to make a definitive call on next year just yet.

If Ricky is serious about next season he needs Timoko to take a huge leap and recruit another strike weapon..

Basically, Croker, Valemei, Rapana and Scott should not be automatic selections.

I’d also say the same for Whitehead. I don’t know if he’s just fatigued but he’s behind Young and CHN for me.

Let’s reverse the feeder club arrangement Fui - I for one will look forward to us providing them with their 2021 Centre pairing of Croker and Scott!

Hurting like all of you.

If I'm honest with myself, and it's hard....

I'm really worried about Jarrod at 3.

I want him to have another 5 years in first grade.

Effort is there. I don't know what's changed but defence had been poor. Attack 5/10. Goalkicking not a factor imo.

I'm concerned about his spot going forward as it stands.

I recall saying the same things about Tongue, and he retired the next year.

I hope Toots finds something in the off season. I love him!

We need to sign a strong running, fast, young outside back like that Bulldogs' Cotric.

Timoko in the centres for mine. Rapa and Simo the wings. Fire Scott out of a cannon. Starling on the bench if Hodgo isn't reasy for 80 minutes, otherwise Havilli.

Then a backrower and centre willing to pass to him when they have an overlap and it might all start to click into shape...

There was a triple overlap at one point...

But the main idea is if they’d give it to Nic 10m out and even 2 defenders won’t be enough...

I’d like to give this guy Aikens a go at fullback. CNK doesn’t have the positional sense and defensive ability to be our long term fullback, despite his graces in attack.

Aikens
Rapana
Scott
Timoko
Simonssen
Wighton
Williams
Tapine
Whitehead
CHN
Papa
Horse
Hodgson

Starling
Lui
Guler/Sutton
Young

Aside from your casting aside of CNK

You really did my head in with your 13-9 ordering of the forwards.

"why is Whitehead at Hooker?" I was wondering :D

They say not to make decisions on game day.... so I’ve waited until just after midnight.

CNK was incredible last week against the Chooks, I can forgive him for not being very effective tonight when we got ambushed and blown off the park.

Croker, Semi and Rapana on the other hand, were terrible.

Rapana needs another offseason to get his body right but should never have been picked to play centre. That was a terrible call at the time and it still is. Cotric is a perfectly capable centre who is starved of possession on the flank, as someone else mentioned in the Game Day thread, it’s little wonder why haven’t kept him or didn’t fight hard to - we barely use him out there!

Semi is very green. After his atrocious game against the Dragons, there was every reason to look for someone with a bit more stability in their game like Timoko. We didn’t need to keep him in FG, the upside was never big enough.

Croker is just about done in terms of being good enough to compete in the big games. He’ll limp through next season again, but the sooner he goes to the Super League, the better. Lacks speed, lacks size and just isn’t up to it anymore.

Looking forward to getting Josh Hodgson back. CHN was golden tonight, he really repaid the faith.

Halves stay the same, forwards stay pretty much the same aside from Bateman’s departure and the return of the Hors/Guler.

It’s Ricky that has the most work to do from a tactical point of view. This squad is 100% capable of winning the competition, anything less is a fail.

Melbourne probably won’t have Smith next year.... we need to cash in.

CNK
Simo/Semi
Croker?
Timoko
Rapana
Jack
GWilly
Papa
Hodgo
Emre
Whitey
CHN
Taps

Havili
Redhorse
Sutton
Hudson

I'm not even sure on that.

Papa, Hodgo, Whitey and Taps are starters. The rest I'll leave to Stick.
