That’s a very late decision given that it seemed like this had been agreed to earlier in the week and does have an impact on preparation.

Watch Ricky use this to galvanise the team and further circle the wagons. Physically the team is ready and this might contribute to us winning the mental battle.

Was it agreed to or was it requested?

Timing is the key for these type of trips. Provided you don't arrive too early it shouldn't be an issue.

It does get confusing though with rules that apply to those in the NRL bubble vs regular people in regards to interstate travel. If your groups is already working under quarantine environment then I don't see any added risk in allowing them to utilise a hotel for pre-game rest.

Another punch in the face.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has blown up after a request to get in to Queensland early was knocked back

Furious Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has labelled the Queensland government‘s refusal to allow his side to fly into the state earlier on game day as “just another punch in the head” ahead of their preliminary final against Melbourne.

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart fumes as Queensland Government delivers ‘punch in the head’

Canberra have been forced into a last-minute change in travel plans for Friday night’s NRL preliminary final with Ricky Stuart declaring it “another punch in the head”.

"That’s all changed overnight, which has compromised our preparation again," Stuart said. "The Queensland government got back in touch with them (the NRL) yesterday afternoon at 3pm ... so it hasn’t eventuated."

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart vows yet another "punch in the head" after Queensland government dawdling made it impossible for the Raiders to spend their Friday afternoon relaxing at the Pullman Hotel.

"It won't affect us. It hasn't all year. It's just another punch in the head we've copped in the week leading up to a game," Stuart said on Thursday.

Queensland might not let in Victor the Viking but he can still do the job from 1200km away

Tony Wood, aka Victor the Viking, is not allowed into Queensland for Friday's preliminary final in Brisbane between the Green Machine and Melbourne Storm. He lives in Queanbeyan and attended last week's semi-final against the Roosters at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

"I was bracing myself. I was hoping we were going to win. And I had it in my mind we wouldn't be able to go [to Brisbane]. Hopefully, we'll get over this weekend and we'll be able to go to Sydney." he said.

J82, I just need to pick up on this as I was thinking about it today in the context of Tapine stepping up this season.

The massive play in that sequence was Tapine absolutely nailing Addo-Carr, who spilt the pill coming off his line. There's no Bateman try if Taps doesn't put everything into that tackle. For mine, it was a real indicator on how much Tapine gives to us when he is on song. That tackle won us the QF against Melbourne.

The Queensland government's stalling on this travel matter is entirely expected. Ultimately it's just further ammo for the boys to rip in on Friday, but it's far from an ideal preparation.

No excuses for the Storm though.

Reminds me of a certain game earlier in the year, coming off a five-day turnaround and the NRL originally demanded we use the bus up to Sydney...

It worked then and it will work now. Ricky LOVES an underdog scrap and he's made sure the boys love it too.

I'm attacking in the right way, instead of just...attacking in the general direction. - Max Aaron (also eerily apropos for the Green Machine)

When Rory Jay Croker was born in June of this year, Raiders fans went a little bit crazy. The first baby of captain Jarrod Croker and wife Brittney, Rory received a tonne of gorgeous gifts – all with a touch of green, of course.

From Raiders-coloured knitted blankets and tiny footy shorts to Raiders-branded cutlery for toddlers, the tiny Croker was already popular with Green Machine fanatics.

My opinion is no, but this is the same issue we are going to face next year. We'll have first grade forwards starting for reserve grade. It's the realization of the raiders philosophy where we just hammer teams through the middle.
You get around the problem of not having a "strike" centre if the other team is so broken by your forwards that all you have to do is give it to Jack.

A baby that sleeps through the night from 6 weeks. That is contentment and possibly a good supply of gripe water.

As for the gifts, I wonder if they got some green 'Crockery'.
