Andrew Barr hoping for crowd of 6500 for Raiders' finals games at Canberra Stadium
ACT Chief Minister is hoping the Canberra Raiders will be able to have a crowd of 6500 at any home finals at Canberra Stadium, but doubts it will go beyond that, the 25 per cent capacity approved by national guidelines.
"It's difficult to predict where things are in five weeks' time, but my understanding is that at this point that would be the upper limit. That would at least allow more Raiders members to attend. It certainly means no fans for the opposing team - other than the club board and the rest who will probably attend.

Andrew Barr? Doesn’t he hate the raiders?

Not if they’re gonna make the finals and it’s just weeks out from an election. The Nickman wrote:Andrew Barr? Doesn’t he hate the raiders?

He's a funny bloke. Was a huge Raiders fan in high school (to be fair, we all were going through during that 87-90 period), but then he decided AFL was his go.
From some accounts I've heard, he applied for a job with the AFL a little while ago as he apparently wants to move to Melbourne with his partner. Not sure how true that is, but to be fair he's certainly angled things to garner some favour with the AFL over the years. There is little doubt they receive more ACT public funding than any other sport.

Interesting rumour. The ACT Chief Minister wants to move to Melbourne. Possibly not the person that you want pursuing the interests of the ACTSeiffert82 wrote:He's a funny bloke. If true surely some 'conflict of interest' questions need to be asked? Has given the AFL a bucketload of taxpayer money over the years and then seeking a job with the same entity.Dr Zaius wrote:Interesting rumour. The ACT Chief Minister wants to move to Melbourne.
