Thanks everyone.
My "check liver light" has been on for a few days.
Should I be concerned ?

I went to this game with a few friends, I was working in Redfern temporarily at the time.
Re: On this day
Very cool. I went to the first Raiders trial at Seiffert and the first premiership match at Seiffert, but didn't go to this game. Back then, four hours drive to Sydney!Cranky Old Man wrote: ↑February 27, 2021, 10:45 am I went to this game with a few friends, I was working in Redfern temporarily at the time.

Re: On this day
I don't think I would have gone if I had to travel from Canberra, although a couple of my mates had done that. I missed the trial game at Seiffert because of work committments in Sydney. In retrospect, it seems as though I might have seen more Raiders games in Sydney than in Qbn that year.

Well... I got one right.
Re: On this day
Just guessing here but i reckon
Noa, Daley and Wiki scored, Furner kicked 4/4 including a penalty goal
Eddie Ward was the referee, we won the penalty count 10-8 but lost the scrums 5-8 and the crowd was 14,685

Was at this one as a young fella like most in 82. Spent more time collecting aluminium cans, wandering around the ground or getting a game of footy going with other kids than watching intently in those days. Happy times! Will never forget the day against the eels when big Na Na Grant went over the defenders shoulder high like super man to score and win us the game.

Re: On this day
There weren’t many games I missed out at Seiffert in the early days Nicko and I hardly missed any through the glory days out at Bruce. It was like going to church back then - it’s just what you did on a weekend in Canberra. You went to the Canberra Cannons and you went to the Canberra Raiders.
Caught the train up to the SCG with my brother in 87 to watch the GF against Manly but didn’t get to any other GFs.
Late 90s my interest dropped - I was pro super league but wouldn’t really put it down to that. The 2000’s were comical. When you have lived through the glory years it’s hard to get excited about some of the players we were turning out and the headlines they were bringing.
The late 80s and early 90s were good times - Mal’s last game was a huge crowd but the masterclass he put on against easts scoring 5 tries and most our 60 or so points is one I’ll remember.
I enjoy watching them now, but I guess as you grow up perspectives change. I saw a few of the players wandering around the Canberra centre at lunch yesterday - they stood out not only for the athletic build but for whatever reason they were the only people in Canberra wearing shorts.
Young, Starling and Sutton passed and a little later I saw Guler and Simo who had compression wraps on both calf’s. They weren’t in raiders gear and was good to see them out and about. It struck me that there was a time about 40 years ago that I would have been totally star struck seeing these guys that I viewed as Gods. Now being twice their age you cast a quick eye and form a judgement in your mind about what sort of a kid they look like. I do miss those days back at Seiffert and the games I’d replicate in the backyard where I’d be O’Sullivan, McLeod, Hoffman and O’Callaghan. Nice memories.

Re: On this day
On this day, I was sad watching 16 players and a benchy stink it up
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Jeez - that makes me feel a bit old. Remember it like it was yesterday.
It was a disappointing end to that season. I was certain we'd have enough to beat the Roosters in the second week of the finals, after belting them only a month before - a game that long ranked as my best ever experience at Bruce, only to be surpassed by the Prelim in 2019.

That 08 run of form he had was incredible.
Granted we played some absolutely garbage teams, but he was just untouchable
