Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I'd love to come out all guns blazing but after looking at who's available we're left with nothing. Can't have 2 rookies sitting on the bench with Sutto or Lui.
1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
2. Nick Cotric
3. Jarrod Croker (c)
4. Michael Oldfield
5. Jordan Rapana
6. Jack Wighton
7. George Williams
8. Josh Papalii
9. Siliva Havili
10. Dunamis Lui
11. Hudson Young
12. Elliot Whitehead
13. Kai O'Donnell

15. Darby Medlyn
16. Joseph Tapine
17. Ryan Sutton
18. Matt Frawley
19. Curtis Scott
20. Harley Smith-Shields
21. Semi Valemei
Maybe instead of Medlyn you have Rappa on the bench to come on in the middle, Oldfield on the wing and start Scott. Who knows at this stage.

I think we probably have to put Scott back in and use the rest of the season to help him find form. If he’s going to command this much of our cap, we have to find a way to use him.
Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is just the train that's about to hit you.

We need to get players in even more desperately now. If we don’t by next week....
Havili probably needs to play 30 at hooker then have a second stint at lock. I don’t want Scott back but he should come back in for Simonsson with Rapana playing as a forward off the bench imo.

well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
This is the worst time to play the Roosters, half the squad returning this week, if you clock off for 1 min this game is over, penalties will kill us here, I would be soo happy with no injuries.

It'll be a cold, wet and slippery night @SCG
Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I oddly think we are a good shot in this game. It will be played on emotion and the short turnaround might actually help us in that regard.

That will be the line up.
Maybe even swapping Sutton and O’Donnell.
Nothing to lose here.
In fact, we can be less predictable if our halves are controlling the attack now.
Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Was saying that to the boys last night. Hodgo (great as he is) actually hasn't played well at all the last month. So a hooker who just goes quicker ball, earlier isn't the worst result in the world now that we have a bit more creativity in the halves. If we are looking for silver linings.GreenMachine wrote: ↑July 12, 2020, 10:11 amThat will be the line up.

I do think that's the team. Perhaps Havilii and Starling will swap. Scott has been out of favour but it's coming down to adding a complete rookie like HSS if he wants to continue with his back on the bench policy.
The other option is no back + add Darby Medlyn, hoping Young or Medlyn or O' Donnel could handle centre in a pinch. I'm just not leaning toward the idea RIcky will want to be adding more rookies to this sort of situation.

Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I'd be playing Havili at 9 for the first 25-30 mins. Replace him with Starling. Hopefully Starling can go the distance and do a good job. If so, bring Havili back on at lock/middle for the final 25-30.BadnMean wrote: ↑July 12, 2020, 11:50 amWas saying that to the boys last night. Don't mind this idea. We know Havili can do the job without necessarily being a matchwinner. Starling has more X factor but don't know if he's NRL standard yet. This approach gives us a chance to find out.

Looking back to last year we went 3-0 with Havilli / Starling. It included two pretty average performances but it's still a positive sign.

Amongst all the doom and gloom, Thursday will be a good indicator as to whether we will pack it in for the season or whether we will still make something of it. Even a gutsy loss will show us to be a top 8 team still. A thumping will indicate we should call it and a win will show we're a good side.
I'm looking forward to it. Also the lesser expectations now will probably mean I turn into less of a rabid beast when Raiders play and can adjust what I expect of the team now.

Re: 2020 Rd 10 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Seems pretty sound planning. Even if Starling gassed in the final 10, Havilii would already be on the field so could shift to hooker and another player comes on as middle.

We're going to be close to having to bring Scott back no matter what kind of form he's in, we're running short of backs. Not sure throwing Harley Smith-Shields to the wolves of the Roosters is a good idea.

We need to make an offer to a Prop that’s off contract next year and see if we can get them an early release.

Very tough times - hard to see us getting with 12-16 at this stage.
CNK's form is well off, with his weaknesses being exposed by the opposition and stifling our attack.
Raps a shadow of the player he was 2-3 years ago. Oldfield not getting in amongst in and/or not seeing any of the ball to utilise his speed.
Croker seemingly slower and unable to cut through the defensive line. Once Hodgo went off also so did any on field leadership, he's simply far too passive and lacks cunning to lead a team by himself.
Young provides minimal impact and looks a bench forward at best. Young O'Donnell looked decent in that very short stint but was clearly ruined within about 10 minutes. Not sure how much he'll be able to punch out next week.
There's four players that we really need to power the team through this and hit new levels, from both a playing and leadership perspective - Jack, George, Papa, and Whitehead. They are the absolute keys and we need them at their very best for the rest of season. If I had to pick one, it's Jack - he's rated as one of the best players in the comp, gets paid like one, and has become a full international. All the experience is under his belt and he's old enough, this is his moment to take the bull by the horns.

All I've seen is the Roosters members will receive emails about how they can buy tickets. Already on sale to them.

I guess if it is permitted, the general public may be able to buy tickets at some stage.
