Andrew Barr said the crowds could increase, at the same time as he announced the border closure with Victoria. I'd be surprised if there was not at least some significant increase, but, of course, I've been wrong before!

Kai O'Donnell to make Canberra Raiders against Melbourne Storm
Fourth time's a charm for Kai O'Donnell, with the young Canberra Raiders forward set to make his debut against NRL powerhouse Melbourne Storm.
The 21-year-old has been named on an extended bench three times already this season, but will finally make the 17 at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.

Would be nice to get some more Raiders branding inside that new gym and HQ. Still looking like a bland concrete warehouse you'd find in Fyshwick at the moment.

Well done to him. I thought he looked pretty good from the limited times I saw him play last year.

Team has been named, I’m calling a smoke screen. Cotric to right centre, Rapana to wing, Oldfield to the bench

Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
And you people thought Ricky wouldn't drop Scott because he doesn't want to get proven wrong
Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
As we suspected. If Rapana was fit last week, Scott would have been left out all together. This week he is.
I still suspect there'll be a bit of a switcheroo in the backs. I think it will end up

3. Croker
4. Cotric
5. Simonsson

Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I think we all agree that Sutton has been playing lights out and probably deserves to start as that is where he seems to play better.
But when you look at the make-up of the team, if you were to start him at Prop and have Lui on the bench, the bench would look absolutely terrible. Lui just doesn't have that impact or mongrel about him.
So, I think this is probably the best team we could have considering the circumstances. Gee we look light on up front though.

To be fair, on paper it's not a bad looking team, despite all the injuries aye

Well i hope he won't... He said last night he was 6 weeks away haha smokescreen or what
Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Agree with this. Storm with have Solomona coming off the bench and without Guler, Sutton is about the largest body we can throw to counter him and try to stifle that offload. I still see Sutton playing 50 minutes.IBG wrote: ↑July 7, 2020, 4:28 pm I think we all agree that Sutton has been playing lights out and probably deserves to start as that is where he seems to play better.

This is about the strongest configuration we have right now. Glad Oldy got a chance to go again with slightly improved match fitness and readiness.
I don't see all the mooted smokescreens and Cotric to centres happening... As I see it, Ricky would have done that last week and given it a chance to bed in if any of that was in his thinking.
Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
We need our spine to play out of their skin, and Hodgson in particular to wake from his slumber aye
Re: 2020 Rd 9 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I agree as well. Without Horse, Guler, Soliola, and Bateman, it really doesn't look that bad on paper (surprisingly). That being said, we really can't afford any more serious injuries, as this is about the best we can do.KasparRaider wrote: ↑July 7, 2020, 4:42 pmI agree. I hope the spine clicks, Cotric goes to centre and Oldfield moves to the wing.

80% chance of showers on Saturday. Cold and miserable for the Sunshine Coast Storm.
Can I also get in early and say just how chuffed I am that the Roosters get a full two days of extra recovery ahead of the GF rematch next week.

Don't hold your breathe for Ricky to move cotric to centre. He didn't last week so what makes you think he will this time! We are absolutely no chance in winning this week. Storm will go straight through our middle. Storm by 18 : 28-10

We can save the discussion for next week. But I wouldn’t say an 8 pm game in Townsville is an extra day. They won’t get home until until 4 or so on the morning Friday.

With our short fall in forwards depth I think we need to start pushing Papa to 70 mins a game. Even if he defends out wide for some of the game, we just need his experience desperately on the park at the moment. (Off at the 55 minute mark and back on for the last 15 minutes)
