I really hope Oldy has a blinder. I reckon he will.

I don't think I've ever liked a journeyman/fringe player more than him.

I agree. Very likable bloke, team-first attitude, doesn't kick stones about only playing a handful of FG games a year, and always does a good job when called upon. Tends to snag a try in just about every FG game he plays for us it seems. Definitely one of my favourites.

Charnze is churning out effort and hard yards that's for sure. The only issue is we might be better served if he just dished off to Cotric occasionally to raise his involvement and have Charnze slightly less battered when he needs to produce precision passing and accelerating through in a backline scenario.

No one can ever fault the blokes effort.

Why can’t we fill the natural talents of a Josh Dugan with the personal and dedicated commitment to the team, training and rehab of an Olfield, Lui, etc....

Todd Carney and Alan Tongue come to mind from the previous generation.

Michael Oldfield backed to shine in Canberra Raiders return

This may be Michael Oldfield's long-awaited chance to lock down a place in the Canberra Raiders' starting side.

"He'd be very excited, Oldie. We seem to speak about Oldie every time he gets a game, how professional he is and how unlucky he is not to be in the starting 17 every week," Canberra captain Jarrod Croker said. "He's that sort of player that is so reliable and could easily make any 17 in the NRL.

Jarrod Croker's road Raiders return to Canberra Stadium for NRL

The Raiders will end a 112-day wait when they return to Canberra Stadium on Friday night.

"It's just that travel [which takes a toll], on the way it's not as much but on the way home, last week we got home at about 2.30am," Jarrod Croker said. "After a tough loss it's not much fun, the bus is pretty quiet and dark and a lonely sort of place sometimes. It's good we don't have to worry about that for the next two weeks at least."

Looks like a Williams, Oldy, Simo opposed drill against Croker and Cotric. That's next level smoke screening there.

Jarrod Croker says Canberra Raiders can overcome John Bateman distraction

The Canberra Raiders are adamant they will be able to brush the John Bateman contract circus aside.

"His main focus is getting back on the field. That's all we're worried about it. He's going to be here for the rest of the year and he wants to win a comp as much as we do, so that's all we're really worried about with Batty. He's hard to understand at the best of times, so it wasn't too much [said]. The boys are all fine, it's a game and that's the way it is," Jarrod Croker said.

Canberra Raiders call on die hard fans to bring the noise

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker might have to give super fan Simon Tayoun's boss a call, just to say thanks. Tayoun's boss told him to take the day off so he could travel down from Sydney to watch the Raiders.

Raiders fans Harrison Webster and Rachael Wayde were among those scrambling to get their hands on one of the 1500 tickets on offer when they went on sale on at 2pm on Monday afternoon.

I hope Simon has been granted a special exemption for his drum! The terms and conditions say no musical instruments!

It makes sense. Put the band back together on the left.

Right edge has zero combination anyway given the dozen changes it's had this season. It can't go worse than Scott (touch wood). And then if Rapa comes back well from his calf niggle, he can go back to his best side.

Not according to all the smokescreen posts since the squad was announced.

Canberra Raiders' right edge on wrong side of ledger

A below-par three weeks from Canberra has seen coach Ricky Stuart lose faith with right centre Curtis Scott, with the stats revealing some worrying numbers in attack and defence for the team's right edge compared to last season.

A breakdown of tries scored and conceded by zone reveals that in both 2019 and 2020, the left side is more profitable for scoring and both the left and right side tries are down by about a third so far in 2020.

The boys must win tonight or drop out of contention in this truncated season. Since the resumption of the season the team hasn't played as a team so I hope they watched that fantastic game last night. Pure strength, determination and desire to win propelled both teams; it could have gone either way. That's how the Raiders must approach every game, starting tonight!
