I personally think they should stick to the 17 that beat Melbourne, meaning no place for Bayley Simonsson and Bateman yet
Oldy is so underrated and we should play him up the middle in the last 20 min with tiring forwards

Agree, hopefully Tapine doesn’t get charged by the MRC for that attempted shoulder chargeHong Kong Raider wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 11:27 am I personally think they should stick to the 17 that beat Melbourne, meaning no place for Bayley Simonsson and Bateman yet

I love oldy as much as anyone but surely you go with rapana starting and bailey off the bench. Gives you the same/if not more, impact off the bench.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 11:27 am I personally think they should stick to the 17 that beat Melbourne, meaning no place for Bayley Simonsson and Bateman yet

Re: 2020 Rd 4 V Knights: Teams and Previews
Yeah it's 30 year old (stalwart)journeyman or young star in the making. Similar speed but Simo probably has slightly better footwork and hands. Love Oldy but Simo was incredible at times in attack and defence both last year- and he's probably still got some improving to do given he has come over from being in union for a decent stretch.GMGT wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 11:48 amI love oldy as much as anyone but surely you go with rapana starting and bailey off the bench. I don't want to harp on about referees after such a brilliant win, but, what about that BS raiders challenge?! There is no way in the world cotric touches that ball.
Seriously what the **** is the point of having captains challenge if the ref gets it wrong on the spot, the raiders challenge it, and then the bunker get it wrong as well! Good grief that was a howler of a call.

Now that we have a 7 who actually goes looking for the ball, Hodgson is not forced to over play his hand.
Great to have 2 genuine options either side of the ruck.
Good times.

Bateman in for Lui however to reward Tapine's strong game, Johnny can start off the bench. Simonsson to come into the side for Oldfield.

Re: 2020 Rd 4 V Knights: Teams and Previews
I would not change the lineup which defeated the Melbourne Storm. Other than for Rapa (Great to see him back in green) it is largely the team which has gone 3 and zero so far this year. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I think if you look closely on the replay, you can see the material on his jersey deflects as the ball passes the arm. It definitely came off the arm.GMGT wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 12:21 pm I don't want to harp on about referees after such a brilliant win, but, what about that BS raiders challenge?! Maybe the 8 point try will be sufficient penalty. Billy Slater got away with those on a weekly basis.
Not sure that Connor Watson will be playing. Looked nasty. Pearce should be back.

Had to be dejavu with Eddie and that pass he couldn't hold on to in Extra time - like the Cronulla 2016 semi final and Melbourne 2016 preliminary final. Eddie needs it straight on his chest to catch them, 2 cm off and he cannot. Cotric opposes him next week.

John Bateman in the Canberra Raiders selection mix to face Newcastle Knights
If beating the Storm in Melbourne wasn't good enough, the Canberra Raiders could be further bolstered by the return of John Bateman this week - if the gets doctors give him the all clear.
"I don't know where John's at in regards to his availability, but that will be known over the next couple of days," Ricky Stuart said. "I'm not sure if he's going to be right this week."

Foggy memory can't stop the Canberra Raiders
The Raiders' flight home from Melbourne last night took off with the players and coaching staff unsure whether they'd be able to land at Canberra Airport due to fog in the capital.
They faced the prospect of either diverting to Wagga Wagga or Sydney, and then having to catch a bus home turning a 1.30am bedtime into something much closer to dawn. Thankfully, the fog cleared

No the pass he got this time was a bad pass. Bradman Best stuffed up there, which is a shame because he had a pretty good game otherwise.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 6:21 pm Had to be dejavu with Eddie and that pass he couldn't hold on to in Extra time - like the Cronulla 2016 semi final and Melbourne 2016 preliminary final. Biggest thug in the game but often avoids suspension. Has been running with a raised elbow for a decade and getting away with it and that tactic has helped him become one of the best props in the game.Johno wrote:JWH gets a fine and free to play?greeneyed wrote: ↑May 31, 2020, 3:00 pmHe's clear: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/05/29/rou ... uspension/

Simmonsen should come back into the team for Oldy on the bench imo
Im not dropping Rapana. I like Simo, i think he's got a ton of potential but Rapana is currently the better winger. And he's already shown he meshed well with Croker, and i love the Cotric/Scott pairing... I wouldnt change those now.
I've spoken before about my beleif that Simo can provide value as a #14 but i dont think that hold true as a #2 who becomes a #14 when some other winger comes on late.

Re: 2020 Rd 4 V Knights: Teams and Previews
Agree with zim that in the future Stuart might need to rotate a bit and get miles in the legs of someone like Sutton. It’d be bloody hard to have to come in if required in 6+ weeks time with no footy under your belt.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Simo in for Oldy. That's about it.
Re: 2020 Rd 4 V Knights: Teams and Previews
This will be a tough game - Knights have a solid pack, Saifiti and Klemmer are a decent front row. They were unlucky not to beat Penrith and go 3-0.
I agree regarding rotation, another thing to consider is rotating players if we are lucky enough to be in a situation where a game is won with 20 minutes left.

On the 4K coverage you could clearly see the milk logo bump up due to the impact of the ball.
