How tragic it is to see Glenn Lazarus in Brisbane colours. Will never get over it!

52nd min Broncos make an error on their own 20m line! Canberra continues to dominate. Unfortunately, there's a little knock on from Walters on an early tackle.

59th min Raiders force a line drop out on the Broncos. Great kick from Clyde... and Nagas flies and forces it with a second kick ahead. Raiders still lead by five points.

64th min Nadruku throws a ball back inside and it finds the turf, not the player. Luke Davico heads off the field, bloodied head.

The Broncos have really not shown a lot in attack in this match, and that's been much more marked with Langer off the field. They have played conservatively, almost from the start.

67th min Great run from Daley, picks up the ball after a Broncos error and he gets Canberra off their own line. And now a penalty puts the Raiders on attack, 20m out from the try line.

69th min Clyde nearly over! Now Croker is put over the sideline... Broncos players off side... and Croker should have received a penalty for a second effort, which put him out.

The Broncos really look completely lost in attack.

71st min Stuart goes for another field goal... that would have sealed the game, but it grazes the right post... on the outside edge of the post.

73rd min Broncos kick for the in goal... but it goes dead! Brisbane really don't look like they can score.

There are over 40,000 people at Lang Park... 40,187 to be exact, but they've been quiet!

78th min The Broncos throw it everywhere, as they search for a try to tie the game... but Willie Carne knocks on, on the last, just short of the line!

Stuart goes for another field goal and it misses...

FULL TIME

Canberra Raiders 14
Brisbane Broncos 8

Tough second half, but the Raiders are victorious, after being forced to play at Lang Park, in front of a parochial Brisbane crowd.

Really good performance by the Raiders.
Only try conceded was from a flukey bomb very early.
In control.

Travesty that Bulldogs won in 1995. They got a leg up a few times.

Why was this game played at suncorp if we finished higher?

They didn't have home semis at the time. They were just at SFS and Suncorp.

I can't even remember if it was controversial at the time.

It was controversial. The Broncos demanded a finals game in Brisbane and the NSWRL eventually agreed. The Broncos home ground was QEII at the time but it meant they got a home game in practice. Coincidence but a happy one for them and costly for us. First time a finals game was played outside Sydney.

Geez we blew it v Bulldogs in the prelim.

We sure did.

This game was a handy reminder of how good Ricky Stuart was. He was next level dominant in 93 too. Blew anything Thurston, Johns or Lockyer did off the park.

His kicking game was phenomenal, well before Johns.

It sure was. Oh well.

So hard to believe that the Raiders only lost 2 regular season games that season and only finished 2nd to Manly. Manly were awesome that year too.

I have no idea how the Dogs won the comp that year.

Didn't Mundine fumble the ball over the line in week 1 just like he did in the 99 GF? We would have been pretty much guaranteed a GF spot had he put that ball down. Great player to watch but those are my two major memories of him.
