2020 Fans' Choice Player of the Year



The Fans' Choice Player of the Year has been awarded since 2004 with an impressive roll call of winners, including Ruben Wiki, Alan Tongue, Terry Campese, Shaun Fensom, Jarrod Croker, Josh Hodgson, Jordan Rapana and Nick Cotric. Josh Papalii won the award for a record third time in 2019. An individual trophy, sponsored by The Greenhouse, is presented to the winning player at season's end.

We have built a great tradition with this award at The GH, and you can be part of it!

Who will be the winner in 2020? It is you who will decide!

In the Fans' Choice Player of the Year, you can register your votes here for the top performed Raiders player, on a 3-2-1 basis. The rules are you can only allocate 6 points or less each round, and can split them any way you like, but no "half" points are permitted and no player can be awarded more than 3 points.

So, you can give the best player 3 points, the second best 2 and the third best 1, in the traditional way. Or you can give two players 3 points each. Or you can give 3 players 2 points each etc. No half points are permitted.

At sometime after Tuesday each week, all the points awarded by everyone to each player each round will be aggregated and then the top three players will be awarded 3, 2, 1 points.

Only votes made by Raiders fans in posts on this thread on The Greenhouse and in response to the post on The Greenhouse Facebook Group will count.

In this thread, feel free to speculate on who will be the player of the round prior to the match.

But 3-2-1 votes can only be made AFTER completion of the match in this thread.

2 Cotric. He was almost impossible to tackle today. Really stepped up and led the back 5 in terms of what you'd expect an Origin player to do when he is surrounded by 3 relative rookies (+ ever reliable Croker). He led.

2 Papa. These are vintage Papa at prop years. Enjoy. I thoroughly loved Papa as 2nd row but this is a great second act.

1 Whitehead. Work, smarts, effort, repeat. The try was a result of his awareness (watch him switch on in the replay) and the relentless work ethic which sees him make those 2% efforts again and again in attack and defence.

1 CNK. Was everywhere he needed to be today.

Agree with this. Cotric unlucky not to score a try or two. Sia with fantastic energy - always plays well against the Warriors. Croker, beautiful pass for that first try and solid game.

3. Cotric. He looks like he has stripped down a bit, I thought he went too bulky last year. That’s the sort of performance you expect from an international.
2. Whitehead. What a smart footballer. Doesn’t make a huge amount of metres from carries, but that’s not what is needed for the team. Consistently makes big defensive plays.
1. CNK. All effort, safe, consistent. Almost our most important buy, when you consider he has allowed Wighton to go into the halves.

I thought Havilii and Guler were good off the bench, and I again enjoyed watching George Williams and Curtis Scott - once they get their combination and communication sorted, they are both willing defenders. A far cry from the Austin/Leila defensive combination.
