Nice wing to it: Bailey Simonsson hungry to secure Canberra Raiders starting spot
Left or right wing - it doesn’t matter to Canberra’s Bailey Simonsson as long as he’s in the team from round one and stays there.
“I played 21 games last year and I didn’t expect to play that many, so it was really great to be involved in all of those," he said. “This year my main goal is to lock down a starting spot and do my role and play well each week.”

Did Sutton actually score 6 tries last season? I thought he had 1greeneyed wrote:Canberra Raiders' right edge won't take long to click into gear: Nick Cotric
Canberra winger Nick Cotric is confident the new-look Raiders' right edge won't take long to click into gear.
"It's been great getting Georgie Williams over and Curtis, they're great players and we’re just working on our combinations," Cotric said. "He [Scott] is a great player, he's played in a grand final and he fits into that role perfectly and he's a strong ball-runner and he talks ... he's a great communicator."

Double blow for Titans
The Titans have been dealt a huge blow for the start of the NRL season with gun fullback AJ Brimson ruled out of Friday night’s Round 1 clash against the Raiders in Canberra.
Brimson has failed to recover from a stress fracture in his back in time and will miss the Gold Coast’s season-opener against last year’s beaten grand finalists.

England international George Williams set to make Canberra Raiders debut
He's been picked to make his NRL debut. Now George Williams has to earn his stripes after he was named in the Canberra Raiders team for the first time on Tuesday.
"Listen, we're not going to be 100 per cent in round one. That's not how it works, but I'll be looking forward to it," Williams said. "It'll be a tough old game, they've got a new coach up there at the Titans. They'll come down firing with a point to prove and we're excited for it.

Canberra Raiders forward Hudson Young restless to change grubby perception
Hudson Young doesn't want to be known as a grub. The Canberra Raiders forward wants to use 2020 to change people's perception.
"Being labelled as a grub is probably something that comes along with footy, but it's something I don't want to have next to my name so I look forward to in 2020 trying to get rid of that.

Canberra Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker looks at season ahead and becoming a father
Q: What have you done to counter teams coming after you now?
A: We've got to go after teams. I think that's the way we're going to look at it. We've got to attack teams who are going to attack us. Our mentality last year was real tough, gritty, work-for-each-other mentality and it's just got to be that, but better. They're going to hunt us so we've got to hunt them. We're ready for them to come after us.

Oldy in 17 a bit of a surprise but corresponds with Simo's selection on the bench late last year.

Agree it does but we didnt early in the season and I didnt think we would this year.
We have big minute players but like everyone they are short of a gallop so I thought and extra forward on the bench would be the way we go.
Re: 2020 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Good team, holy **** I just realised the game is on Friday, now I'm even more excited! Only a few days to go..
On another note, excuse my ignorance but who the hell are Phillip Sami, Sam lisone, Jai white bread, and jaimin Jolliffe??? God I'm glad the days of having no names in our game day squad are long gone. In Ricky we trust.

Well, given we were close to winning a Grand Final with the worst halfback in the history of the NRL, there should be some pressure on Williams to win us just one more game this season. Seems a reasonable conclusion to draw.
