Canberra Raiders knock back Josh Dugan approach

The Canberra Raiders have rejected an approach to sign Cronulla centre Josh Dugan. He's been shopped around to other NRL clubs, including the Raiders, as the Sharks try to offload some of his reported $900,000 salary. Meanwhile, Jack Wighton says he'll support Curtis Scott as he waits to hear the NRL's decision on his immediate playing future.

"I'll definitely put my arm around one of my own and support him, and we'll just see what happens. I know nothing more than you do so we'll just see what happens."

this is a great little article to remind everyone we are all about culture... a classic counter punch to the ongoing CS story. Nice work from the political staffers at HQ

As if Dugans manager had balls big enough to contact the Raiders...

I do not believe that enquiry even took place.

So we’re signing our stars for less than market to stay and win a comp, and now we have a proactive PR department making up stories to improve our image.

Would love to have been in the room when Don told Ricky

" So Ricky , I had a call today, Duges wants back"

"So do we want to pretend to be interested to have some fun" :roflmao

And that conversation went

" hello Don speaking "

" hi Don its the sharks here, we can solve your problem, we are happy to give you Duges"

" ok happy to take him, but here is the deal, you pay his whole wage, plus the wage of Harley and Duges' medical bill"

" you had a deal till you through in his medical bill, that's more then his and Harley's wage combined " :roflmao

Has to be a gee up

News reports over the last week suggest he hasnt trained , seen specialists that have more or less indicated his League days are over , although Shark doctors have said otherwise.
I cant see us even entertaining or anyone for that fact signing him becuase he is busted and his carrer is effectively over.

I’d say they were so desperate they sent the other 15 clubs a group email just saying “Who wants him?”

In the News Ltd article this morning the Sharks are basically saying he is soft and making up a fake injury. Apparently he is trying to get medically retired.

Zero empathy for the Sharks. Documented history of him being a soft, selfish douchebag yet despite the club not having a brass razoo, some genius signs him to a $975k a year deal? You reap what you sow; suck it up Sharkies like a sweet tasting pineapple cruiser.

Everyone in the footy world knew when he started whinging about 'needing to be paid fullback money' while he was at the Dragons that it would end up badly. It was obvious that his style of play was no longer suited to the modern 5/8 style fullback, and anyone paying him $800k plus was going to be bitterly disappointed in the end.

And The only way this could play out better is if he signs for the Broncos and burns them as well.

Suck it up sharks, you've been playing all the backroom games for years, Im glad this one has ended up as egg on your face.

Remember he has already had a stint with the Broncos. Lasted about 72 hours didn't it?

BJ Mole exclusively reports that Dugan almost didn’t sign with Cronulla back in 2018.

Dugan got a paper cut when being passed the contract by his manager, but recovered from injury to sign the contract after spending time with the trainer.

It’s a no from us: Canberra Raiders snub offer to re-sign outcast Cronulla Sharks star Josh Dugan

Canberra have turned down the opportunity to re-sign former player Josh Dugan as uncertainty grows over the Shark’s playing future. According to the Canberra Times, the NSW Origin star was shopped to the Raiders and other NRL clubs, but Ricky Stuart’s side was not interested.

The biggest joke here...other than Cronulla having to deal with this idiot...is that Dugan continues to get paid close to $1m per season while this ridiculous situation unfolds.

That's why you don't sign massive **** heads to big money contracts, kiddies.

Who else wears green ?

How good does this feel, sure hes probably a rich guy but to see him getting ostracised and hinted hes soft and looking for a payout, the sharks butt hurt with this and Morris not happy..makes it a good day.

I think we should be a little careful here. He is a douche, there is no doubt about it. But watching his career play out I genuinely fear for his mental wellbeing going into retirement.
