The biggest crime here is that this Mickey Mouse tournament is stripping us of what could have been a precious second trial game.

That doesn't look flash for Ethan Lowe. That'll hurt souths, already looking a bit thin in the forwards by all accounts.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

We're told the official crowd is 10,128. Given the official capacity is 20,500, that seems wildly improbable.

That's all we have for the first day of the NRL Nines at Perth.

The Raiders are on the bottom of their pool, with a negative points differential of 17.

The GH will be at the Jersey Flegg trial tomorrow from 12:30pm, so we will be late to this party.

We will aim to cover the Raiders Nines match tomorrow at the very least... but we'd love it if you jumped in and reported on results and discussed the tournament through Day 2!

Thanks for following.

And fox said it was a good crowd for day1......

With tv coverage only on fox and a small crowd is the cost worth it??

And Canberra stadium can hold that many easy so there you go nrl!

100% agree R47. One more day to go and then the boys can come back and work on defensive structures. A key part of doing well in the NRL.

What role does the 9s format have in preparing for the NRL season? Bugger all Your Honor.

Was the best player imo.
Yeah, other than that pushed pass he was good.

Anyway, you can't turn the ball over 5 times and duff up 2 kickoffs and get close to winning these games, but I thought we looked pretty good in general play, up against their first string side.

Was happy. Timoko and Smith Shields looked the part. Murchie put in. *Mariner looked a prospect and the rest were essentially also rans anyway.
